Hey guys - new to Lionel Legacy Control systems here, but I think I've got all of the basics down. Now a problem...

Just received this new Legacy Control System a few days ago and set it up today for testing on a basic small oval. Everything worked fine for about 10 minutes - but then I was pushing some buttons to see what I remembered from the manual - and the velocity throttle control stopped working. It turns, but nothing happens.

There is no response when turning it to change the speed of the locomotive - and the little "arrow-circle" icon doesn't appear on the top-right of the screen when I turn the dial. I also went to the screen to change the name of the train and the throttle dial doesn't scroll through the letters. Again, it's unresponsive.

Everything else works perfectly, as far as I can tell.

Could I have possibly hit some button (or series of buttons) to get myself into this situation? Or, is this just defective Lionel equipment?

Not looking forward to getting something repaired that was only used for 10 minutes. Doesn't give me a real warm-fuzzy feeling about the product.

Thanks for the replies. After contacting Lionel, the Legacy Control System was returned to them for repair/replace. I'll post back here with the results in case anyone else encounters this in the future.

I ruled out the engine itself because the velocity throttle wouldn't even scroll through the alphabet on the "Name" screen (where you can name your train, engine, etc.)

Did try the battery replacement and reloading the engine data in my original troubleshooting.

Folks, When this occurs, make sure you check to ensure you have not enabled speed limit settings. This icon appears when you press ENG + ID the icon is in the lower RH corner. Press it twice and you have set your max speed to ZERO. Which means loco will not run! Go back to speed limit icon and press and hold until the top display screen says "speed limit off" then everything will be blissful again. Mike

So, just received my Legacy Control System back from Lionel yesterday. I have to say, I'm pretty happy with their response. I had the system back in my hands exactly 7 days after they received it on their end.

The problem was, according to the invoice, "Bad big red dial", which they replaced. They also updated the software to the latest - which is cool because I was planning to do that myself.

I'll be giving it the best test this weekend. Hopefully I'll still be as happy with Lionel after the test as I am now.
