Gibson,     I wish you the best on this endeavor.  If there is anyone who can assist with it, you will find them here, no doubt.  As for in the KC area, I cannot help you on that.  There are some great TCA members in the KC region, perhaps reach out to them for some connections local.   I say the best with your endeavor, because my St Fe PS1 F3s became scrambled, never found out why.  They were running fine, with new battery, parked them in the service area.  When I went to run the ABAs next day, with ZWC, 180 bricks, cab1, as I have always done.... nothing but clanks.  I tried a reset.... nothing.  Purchased a PS kit from Western Depot..... no change.  Just for grins, even tried a chip from another PS1 diesel.... no good.  In the end I put in ERR with RS board for F3 and glad I did.   Still, hope you find a good way and contact to restore the PS1 in your F3s.

Raise voltage to let it start and you should hear two dings.  Lower voltage to less than 10V with a pure AC transformer. PW or Z-4000.  Press direction button, should move.  If sounds die as soon as you press direction button you need to check battery or battery harness.  What model is this?  G

It's a mt-2151...new battery...it does the shutdown sequence...won't change states from startup to run...seems to go into first step of changing or reseting a function but won't come out of that mode.

Think I remember hearing 2 dings...startup to high idle speed...reducing voltage fires 'release airbrake' sound followed by one ding (or clank)...then goes into quiet idle. Does not move...

If you raise and lower rapidly after start up can you get more than one air release?  If not, has id conflict which can be fixed but by tech.  If you can move up and down to get multiple clinks and clanks.....after start up make sure voltage less then 10 and do the direction change. IF no movement press 2 more times and see if it goes in reverse.  If so, transistor needs to be repaired if not may be locked so do a feature reset in accordance with instructions.

What transformer are you using, it matters.  A CW-80 or even a Z-750 may or will not work.  G

Nope...get air release and one clank...then nothing...quiet idle...

Other units I have...same basic version different road name...you get an air brake release, which indicates state change then advance throttle and away you go. This one refuses to budge.

Tried using a PWZW and a Z-1000...no difference...

When I first picked it up, it ran ok. Let it set and it got messed up some how. Thinking I let the battery get low and it hammered me...

Gibson,   Your description of start-up and then idling sequence is exactly what my PS1 F3 was doing.  I do hope you have a service tech close by who can fix it.  I have no techs anywhere close I know of, and my choice of going with ERR upgrade was best option for me, not always is best for others.  I do like the scale size and detail of the MTH engines I have, my reason for dealing with issues, upgrades, and hoping someone comes through with a TMCC upgrade that retains the engine model unique sounds for each.  As I stated, you have access to the best techs and advice here, just one of many perks of the Forum.

Thanks, Tex. I like these engines also...and if you shop around, you can find good prices on these diesels. I am putting together an EL Capitan setup...at way-less than new prices. Have this engine from the A-A set, and now have 2 powered B units...so is a really nice engine setup when working. I imagine with six motors I can probably pull 50 cars...yee haw! Of course, I know El Capitan only had 15 cars max...

Think I might box it up and ship it out to GGG. What's the best way to make that happen?
