Good morning! I am trying to upgrade my friend Dave's rev. L TIU from 4.2 to 4.3. Every time we power up and run the 2.3 loader program it comes back and asks to recycle the power. We follow the instructions, but it just keeps asking to recycle the power! I just upgraded both my older TIUs yesterday without any issues. Is there something I'm missing with his rev. L TIU?

If you're attempting to upgrade the Rev. L via a standard USB cable, I suggest using a serial to USB cable instead and powering the TIU either via its Aux. Power port or Fixed #1 In.
I'm not saying that it shouldn't work via straight USB to USB, only that this is the way I've been upgrading my 3 Rev. L TIUs forever, including to 4.30.
Barry, we are using a USB to serial cable. Also,we've tried to power the TIU from both the aux. power input & fixed input with the same results.
FWIW, I had trouble upgrading my TIU's initially using the serial<->USB cable and no problem using the USB port. I just upgraded three of them using the USB connection without an issue.
I since have replaced the serial<->USB cable and now serial works, but USB is easier IMO anyway.
If the serial adapter isn't working, try the USB direct.
Check to ensure that the proper USB drivers, from MTH, are installed.
Are you using the same PC/setup that you used for your TIUs?
John, going to try straight USB cable. Barry, I'm going to download and install the drivers from MTH. Get back to both to you in awhile!
FWIW, I use the straight USB cable for all my updates and sound file loads, it's never been a problem with either my desktop or several laptops.
Barry, John, downloaded and install the Windows USB drivers (CMD20828_setup.exe). Still experiencing the same problem using the straight USB cable. When I downloaded the driver, the instruction said you didn't need transformer power with the USB cable. The loader program still asks for power either to the fixed 1 input or aux power input. Tried with and without getting the same results!
It might be helpful if you answered my previous question:
Are you using the same PC/setup that you used for your TIUs?
Barry, yes! I'm using an Acer laptop with Windows 7.
Barry, John, figured problem out! First, had one mini-pin plug not 100% into jack. Second, I had switched from com3 to com8 ports when I changed cables and did not realize this happened! We were able to load without a hitch then!!! Guys, thanks a million for all the help. Barry, you saved my butt again!!!
