Apologies that this has been addressed before but I want to make sure I get it right!

I have a conventional Lionel SD70 (6-18264, I think) with signal sounds board and 104E unit. Partly as an exercise and partly as the loco means a lot to me I want to upgrade it to Railsounds and TMCC.

I assume I need the Railsounds board form ERR and what else ? - the Cruise Commander 4.1 kit? (not the M version as there are no TMCC components in the loco at the loco at the moment ?)  Are there any other options ?

Thanks

Since this is a command ready locomotive, what you need are the three boards, unless it's stripped, it does have the motor driver board already.  The decision is, do you buy the three boards and if you want cruise replace the DCDR with the CC-M, or simply do the full upgrade with ERR stuff.  The ERR upgrade would be my choice as for around $220 you get the full Cruise Commander and the SD Series RailSounds Commander.  Here's what should be in the locomotive if it's factory stock.
