Using K-Line (2000) Diesel shells on Lionel legacy F-3

Hello. I was wondering if anyone knows if K-Line F3 shells will fit the new Legacy F3 units with little or no modification? I am interested because I can't find the Legacy F3s I am seeking but I do have the K-Line version and thought I might be able to get away with swapping shells with another similar Lionel legacy F3.
