The technician's note just said "tilt the engine forward". No angle mentioned and I assumed "forward" meant downward, but maybe I am wrong. I don't want to think about where the 3 mL of smoke fluid I added over a period of several days ended up going.
JFC454,
Thank you for the reply. It would be nice if Lionel could put updates on their Specific Engine on-line Manual pages to clarify instructions as Service encounters problems (issues) with the engines. It would give buyers a go-to place to look for help.
The Lionel engine Manuals are generic, cut-and-paste guides that often leave questions unanswered. Cut and paste is a good place to start a Manual, but more details are necessary. Additional on-line Manual pages could provide that new information.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
So is the reason the engine was hot because the smoke fluid wasn't in where it was supposed to be if I read that correctly? I think I saw something somewhere on YouTube where some other engine had a tricky smokestack where the fluid was going to the wrong spot
Here is the video at the beginning of this thread of a new 1931260 Challenger #3985 that was repaired with new sound and OUT-OF SYNC DRIVERS.
It is the reason I went ahead with my purchase of a 1931260 Challenger and waited for its return from Lionel. Lionel did NOT change the Sync on my engine, even though I asked them to do it, and Katie wrote the instructions into my RA notes on Lionel's computer system.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
