I ordered a NOS 6-8215 779 berkshire. When I test ran it the sound board produced noises. I was only running it on a little brick transformer as my KW hadn't arrived yet. A week later my dad came over and we went to run it and no sound. I don't have a whistle button so no idea about the whistle.
On the first test runs it seemed a little sticky so I removed the shell and oiled the motor and put some commutator brush break in drops on the brushes.
I didn't run it with the sound board plugged in again over fear of it shorting from desintegrated foam. The next time I went to run it was when my dad came over. This engine isn't in service yet it's a Christmas present for my son so I have time to get the sounds figured out.
Im going to clean the sound board and re mount it with some proper double sided servo mounting tape. If for some reason it's toast what tenders can I buy for parts and or sound boards can I look for to put in the tender to get it working again?
thanks
