Vision Line 11211 4-6-6-4

Just received the UP challenger to replace the 2-10-10-2 engine. The coupler on the tender is to low and discontents from the following car when in motion. It does not uncouple, just seems to drop down below the other coupler. Has anyone had this problem and how can I fix it? There is a spring there but it seems to need a second one or something.
