I would like to know how reliable is the Visionline Niagara, my one perform OK the first few weeks, after that I notice no sound coming from the smoke box speaker, the bell sounds when it fills like no when I push up the sound controller also the water scoop spray effect most of the time does not work (of course I keep my eye adding fluid), I call Lionel and unfortunately they cannot take care with this issue because they are moving and I have to wait until July; I am wander if anybody has a problem with these locomotive

I purchased 2 of these engines and really like them but some people have had issues with the sound cutting out apparently there sound board looses power on some track switches etc, what you can do is install a battery 9 volt if I remember right and that cures the sound cutting out! you could check all the connections and reseat the plugs into the boards, or take it to a service Lionel repair shop!
Alex M on the forum made a real good video of how to take the Niagara apart and inspect everything inside the engine
Since the VL-Niagara is still under warranty, have a little patience and send it to Lionel in July.
Dear Alex M: Will you please be so kind to send me some info about the Niagara video that you made? I will appreciate your help.

I really appreciate your help in posting the Niagara videos, I am thinking to take my locomotive apart in order to find out, if it is possible, where the problem is and see if I can be able to correct it, thank you again
As a last ditch before you open it, what transformer are you using? These engines require a lot of power = ZW-L or equivalent.
Thank you for your replay, since my layout is 24'x52' is power with four MTH Z-4000 transformers.
