I've been playing around with EZ Streets and decided to try Evan Designs' Police LED kit. You get 2 flashing white headlights, 2 blue flashing top lights and 2 flashing red tail lights.

I wondered if the track voltage would be enough, and yes, they work at less than 5 volts but get better and brighter as the voltage is wound up. It was an easy install, the tail light holes are exact fits and the headlights, even though the holes are rectangular, fit nicely. The only holes needed drilling were the roof and there was already small holes to guide the drill. It looks great, I've got a siren kit too, it will also fit.

Very cool.

Interestingly, the original (first year) K-Line Superstreets vehicles including a van with this very same body casting, with a working light bar (two tiny blinking LEDs).  Lionel-K-Line put out the same van sans light cast in but but no lights. Weird.  I have two of the original K-Line with blinking LEDs.  They also have an e-board so they will do F-N-R, too.   In the US, WesternDepot still has about 30 of them NIB - they are so old ('98ish) that the grease in the two I bought had hardened and I had to scrap it out and relube them.

A siren - no one's ever had a siren.  Dave, you have to do a siren if you can make it fit!

Wild Mary, I think the camera amplified the noise, it's not too bad.

Lee, the siren kit from Evan design will fit. It has a push button, momentary action, that cycles through 3 different sounds to off each time it's pushed. I'm thinking about replacing it with a mini reed switch. Place a magnet on the track and every time the van passes, the siren will change state.

Yeah, its limited.  On the other hand, they own the rights to some of the other castings used in Superstreets, including, I think, the vintage truck, the panel van, and the short little (otherwise scale) school bus.  Also, K-Line offered (but never produced) in their first SS catalog, SS Chevy Camaros and a Ford tow truck, etc.  I expect WBB will bring some of those out.

Still, it is a lot of fun to convert diecast and you get more "model" models.
