I brought home a Lionel GP-35 (New York Central) from York (great deal!) and it is a stone cold winner. I have heard lots of Lionel Legacy diesels and unless I am mistaken, the GP-35 has the best sound yet. Jumpin' Jehosaphat, what fantastic sound!

Diesel growl, ramp up, whine, horn, bell Simply the best I have heard from Lionel.

I should know, I've had quite a few.

And for less than $400.

Kudos to Lionel.

Bravo !

Here's a video that I first posted a few months ago. The flickering number boards are purely due to the camera that I used.

Big deal! You can get a Williams GP30 with "prime mover sounds" for half the cost of  a legacy diesel!.............................. that thing sounds awesome Nicole!

Slightly off-topic.

A few years ago, I posted a topic asking what scale Legacy locomotives look OK with traditional size rolling stock. Some of the answers included:

GP7

GP30

GP38-2

The GP35 is a similar size lengthwise according to the catalog to the GP30 and GP38-2 (and the GP7 for that matter, but different body style).

Is it safe to assume the GP35 is going to look OK with traditional size cars?

"George Brown reviewed the Lionel GP-35 in the June/July issue , which should be out to you shortly.  George has nice things to say about it, which makes me happy because he used my Erie Lackawanna GP-35 for his review!"

Dr. Boyle . . . . . New York Central black is the only scheme. Please !
