I wanted to run my long stored Royal Hudson with my PWC Canadian cars. Oiled it up and placed it on the track, nothing, just noise. No manual, is there a QSI battery somewhere that needs to be replaced, does it need to sit charging on the track. I need to revive this beautiful engine, HELP!

The manual for the original QSI Train Control System may be found here. It's not the best set of images, but you should be able to work your way through it. Troubleshooting starts on page 45. It can be cumbersome, but I've successfully used it to unlock and reset several of my older QSI equipped locomotives over the years. Give it a try.
If all else fails, that Royal Hudson is nice enough to warrant an ERR or Proto-3 upgrade.
Good luck!

Absolutely. Easy ERR (from 3rd rail) upgrade. Don't know about PS3. Get the Cruise Commander. Early OSI/Protosound could be obtuse when it went weird on you.
First, though - open the tender, press all the boards together and/or unplug/re-plug all that lend themselves to that. Look for loose wires. If nothing, remove the boiler (usually 3 screws, one under the steam chest and 2 at back of cab) and check the wiring.
Electronics can deal with tiny currents, and it doesn't take much "corrosion" to stop the flow - hence the re-seating of boards recommended above. I have "fixed" a few locos with that.
A bit late, yes there is a battery, just as in early MTH engines. Once the I replaced the battery, which is in tender, it run like a charm. I hope that you revived yours!
