I sure wouldn’t mind finding another #28057 custom run Mechandise Service Boxcar with the return to Jeannette Gass on it. I grew up in Jeannette PA, the Glass City, and knew plenty of people who worked at Jeannette Glass.

I believe Weaver did 150 of those box cars with Jeannette Glass Jeannette, PA and 150 with Westmoreland Glass Grapeville, PA. I think each car was done in three numbers.

Oh wow! Two of my aunts were decorators at Westmoland Glass. I definitely need to search and find these cars. Thanks for the information Jim!

 So Jim I have one of your custom made cars that Weaver did for you correct? it’s one of my favorite pieces now that I know that  I will definitely will take extra care of it.

This was my first “decorated” Weaver piece I bought. I was planning on getting more different trailers the next week after I received this one but they had already announced they were closing and the supplier I bought this from in St.Louis was out of town and he didn’t place my order in time and I lost out from there it seemed like the price of Weaver Models sored on the internet but l was a  patient grasshopper 

Here are some of my favorite Weaver pieces.

A couple more of my favorite custom run Weaver cars.

I have 3 diesels, 2 steam engines, about 40 freight cars and 1 passenger car left. I had 15 engines, 89 freight cars and 5 passenger cars. My heart died for O scale when Weaver closed, I took my kids up every year for 13 years. Last trip was just Joe there, we left with our heads down and said goodbye. That was the quiet ride home.....

Pete. Thanks for posting. I felt the same way when I heard that Weaver was closing I went back to HO but I left my heart in O Scale after a year or so of struggling in HO I gave O Scale another try and it’s been great, stay in there my friend I’ve found that getting active on this forum helps me and motivates me to work more in this scale. There some great people here to support your hobby.

This is the only Weaver Hopper car I have for now

I have a 2 Weaver engines, both RS units in Army livery with TMCC. Here is one....

Weaver engines with TMCC were a great value.....I'd love to know where the light consolidation molds went.....I never got around to getting one.....

What I also loved about Weaver engines was the packing...it was fantastic! I always would say that one would be fortunate to be buried in a Weaver box.....

I have a few TOFCs and army flats that I have put loads on and 2 box cars, both of which I treasure.....

A B&O round roof box car and a Delta Lines box car....Here's a pic of the Delta Lines car....it happens to be out on the layout....

Awesome thread. I miss Weaver. I have 47 of the "coal goes to war" PRR 2 bay hoppers from Jims train shop. I am always looking for road #'s that I don't have. If anyone out there has any for sale, let Me know. Also, does anyone know how I access the complete list of freight cars that Weaver ever made. I have seen this list in the past, but now I cant seem to locate it now.

How It's Made on the Science Channel did an episode on model trains, and they took all the video from the Weaver Factory here in the US:

Interesting thing, I have a Merchandise car road numbered "28057" also but mine is paint all a silver.  In fact also have another one numbered 28053.

Open coal hoppers by Weaver. Some I've weathered some not yet. 

Freight cars by Weaver. B & O hopper came lightly weathered.  Charlie

I may have two custom run cars from Jim's Train Shop.  I remember purchasing this Curve Beer Reefer (phone order) when Jim was closing his shop.  It is numbered 1602 while the illustration posted by Jim previously is 1603.

Here are a few pictures of the Coal Goes to War hopper car mentioned previously. Purchased it and the coal load during one of our visits to Jim's store many years ago.

The coal load was from Blue Mountain Hobbies.

Most of the cars I did were done in three numbers. The hopper cars were done in twelve numbers.

In my thirty years in business, Joe Hayter was the nicest man I meant. Him and his staff would do anything for you.

Weaver rolling stock had enough detail and was reasonably priced.  Truck design allowed for cars to sit lower than other mfrs. woodside reefers, boxcars, hoppers of all designs.

Lee the only pictures I have are silver hydride not digital.  The box car body is silver with a wide red band like the grey & silver merchandise band with large printing "Express" at the far left and "Service" at right.  And then a large red keystone.

The North Shore RR is just south of the former Weaver facility in Northumberland PA. Knobles Grove is an amusement park in nearby Elysburg PA

The thing I like most about Weaver open hoppers, is that no matter the style, the inside dimensions were the same. No need to make several different bases for coal loads like Lionel MTH and Atlas. I started making loads for Weaver 2 bay hoppers for a club car project in 2011. Our group did a Reading 2 bay hopper.

Lee, it is, and it was sold. One of the strangest entrances to a building I ever saw; had to drive through the parking lot for the VFW, and then turn right to get to the Weaver building. I had a hard time finding it the first time I went down. Here is another pic of the switcher. I thought I had pics of the other one.

I've been selling off my scale size stuff.   But I'm keeping these two Weaver boxcars.

The Maine 3 Railers custom run club car.   The last Weaver production run from 2015.
