Here is a video of a plow extra on the Free State Junction Railway.  Just shot today, I caught this plow train exiting the west portal of Mt. Randolph Tunnel and crossing the Bowman truss bridge.   This video was taken in the higher valley of the FSJR Mountain Division ...  just before the train will ascend a 3 percent grade to the much higher altitude of the Randophian Mts. where it will begin plowing operations fighting the severe winter storm we are now experiencing here in the mid Atlantic region.

The consist: 1. )  Leased, newly painted and newly installed traction motor, Denver and Rio Grande rotary plow.  Traction motor powers the blade, heats the operators cab, powers the lights.

2.) B&O Alco FA B unit provides power for the rotaries traction motor.

3 & 4 ) B&O GP9s roads switchers = 3500 horse power

5 ) B&O  MOW combine.  Contains kitchen, crew bunk quarters, tool compartment. Tools for clearing switchers and re - railers if needed.

6 ) B&O Flanger - Freshly painted, this piece of equipment will broaden the right of way.  Once the track has been cleared with the rotary, the train will reverse itself with flanger leading.  The wings on the flanger will shove snow farther away from the tracks.
