From the annoying files comes the hotbox reefer... Thanks goodness for the ERR mini commander.
Great looking house repaints Scott! Got my Grandson a Williams Daylight engine for Christmas as he likes to run my scale version so much. We set up a permanent layout in his bedroom shown here with some custom painted SP Daylight passenger cars and Soup Can SP water tower, and custom painted trains the rest with motors removed so he can push them around.
The Providence and Worcester Railroad began operation between its namesake cities in 1845. It was leased for 99 years by the New Haven Railroad in 1892 and became an independent railroad again in 1973. It was purchased by Genesee & Wyoming, Inc. in 2016 and now operates in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York. I used to see P&W locomotives in the motor storage area in New Haven, Connecticut and purchased several MTH Premier P&W models including GP-40 #3001. As seen in the videos, the operation of this PS-3 model is exceptionally smooth under conventional control on my 10’-by-5’ layout. MTH also offered two P&W caboose models in its catalogs that I would like to acquire but have been unable to find – so I usually run this engine with a New Haven caboose.

Train layout deconstruction continues.......I packed away the "pride of the fleet".....set 2507 from 1958.....
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!

Many of us preordered and then waited a long time for delivery of the Lionel 0-6-0T Switchers. These are part of the still relatively new Lion Chief Plus 2.0 line.
I ordered the Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal livery. Great little loco. Runs great, good sounds, and smokes well.
Among other features, LC+ 2.0 allows control in a myriad of ways: conventionally, TMCC, Legacy, Bluetooth LC App, or the Universal Remote.
Somewhere outside Philadelphia on a cold afternoon in November, 1947, the photographer caught the main Friendship Train consist as it headed into Trenton on its way to New York City. The train was already pulling over 100 cars but the Pennsy's Centipedes were having no problem with the tonnage. Nearly 700 carloads of food was shipped to France and Italy that December. Much of the supplies in this train were loaded onto the United States Lines' "Friend Ship" taking the first shipload to France.
As always, some great pictures today. I have not posted much lately, but I just received my Lionel Friendship Train cars and was taking pictures of them for my inventory. So, I brought out the Lionel Centipedes and MTH's FT cars (plus my Atlas X-29s with the banners) for some train shots.
Take care and be safe.

Peter,
It's always sad to pack our favorite trains away into their boxes. I wish you great anticipation and enjoyment when the day arrives for unpacking on the new layout.

Putnum Division,,
Yes, its always a sad day when one has to tear down their Christmas layout. Packing away the engines and cars in their Lionel boxes gives a person time to reflect memories of this past Christmas and previous Christmases of years gone by. Hopefully, come next Christmas you will make more memories. Take care and think pleasant thoughts of your 2021 Christmas layout.
Follow up information:
Here is a more complete picture of the playground scene that includes three Lionel accessories recessed into a section of 1" foam to hide the bases:
Another bit of information: This 2' X 2' section of my layout, built using Mianne Benchwork was moved from my last larger layout intact and included in the re-designed much smaller layout:
A Wart Hog Flies over Terryville.
Thomas, Annie and Claribel are right on schedule as they round the bend at the farm.
A submarine surfaces in the harbor.
Since the theme is shaping up to be parks... here is a scene from my park before and after renovations:

Some years ago the NMRA ran a series of boxcars commemorating famous model railroads. I remember one was for Gordon Varney's railroad. There were about half a dozen of these.

That is a GREAT box car! Is it scratch-built? how did you create the interior load? Your weathering is superb. Bravo!!!!

WOW Jim, you verbalized so perfectly what I, as a Christmas time only layout person, was/am thinking!!! I was going to reply but your words were too perfect not to use.
The only thought that I can add that for me makes having a Christmas only layout is when the next season starts and I get to pull all of those cars and engines out of their boxes. I actually do stop for a short time on each one and remember why I bought each and the joy that I get seeing them on the layout again.

As long as we have parks... how about a trolley park?

I miss Weaver too. I had a long time relationship, being a member of a club car committee. I live about an hour north of the former Weaver facility, and made quite a few trips to work out details for several club cars, and to take friends for tours, including one who is a semi retired newspaper editor who did a few stories about Weaver. I still keep in touch with Joe Hayter.
@walt rapp Glad I could provide some inspiration! When I read your comment, I realized you can't really see what's going on Inside the gazebo... so here is another shot of that. It's quite the confab in there...
