Thanks again Scott for having this great thread. Please keep the great pictures rolling.

I want to thank you for the encouragement; I haven't run any trains and I really didn't feel like starting the thread. Owen's passing really has me bummed.

Southern Pacific used 0-6-0 switchers to assemble their Daylight and other passengers trains. You too can assemble a Daylight train if you have deep enough pockets. Nine of the old two-tone orange cars are available for purchase. The Northwestern Pacific Railroad wants to get rid of them. The only auction bid was from a scrapper who wanted to be paid $7500 to remove them. The Lake Pepin plus another that I can’t remember the number of, are on a siding alongside the historic Italian Swiss Colony Winery in Asti, California---not junk but less than cherry.

Week 4 toward building 2011 Christmas Layout memories Smile

I have 2 AIUs. This is the mess of wires around them. Figure: they control 20 switches and 30 Accessories (yes, some are doubled up out of the AIU port) so there are a LOT of wires coming in to them and going out from them. The AIU in the 2nd picture has only 1/2 of the things wired into it so it'll be a LOT messier.

I usually try to hide the wires some after testing. Even though both AIUs will under the plateau and hidden from view, I do take movies of the layout by pushing a flat car with video camera. I don't like seeing all the wires so I try to cover them from view of the camera.

The front 4'x6' part of the plateau being put in place.

When I retired, I was given a gift certificate for a hobby store in my area. They don't carry much in 'O' and I had a hard time spending the $100. I landed up buying 6 backdrops at $10 each. Don't really like the way that they look but with no permanent benchwork to attach them to there wasn't much that I could do to improve how they mesh together.

I'm getting there, albeit slowly.

The Woolworth’s is an Ameritown Burke Building with a storefront from an Ameritown Plain Jane Store, The two on the left are Walthers Cornerstone kits and on the righe is a MTH corner building. They all have been airbrushed and have custom signs done on a computer.
The Walthers buildings are no longer available. A few weeks Back I posted a thread to lobby Walthers to re-issue them.

I like your building, very original.

I got tired of taking pictures with my trains sitting on the deck railing. I grabbed a piece of scrap plywood and some Fastrack and went to work. This is my first time weathering and scenicing FT and I'm not entirely happy with it. However, it is better than the deck railing.

You have amply demonstrated that Fastrack can look very good when given the treatment.
