Weekend Photo Fun 11-30-12-?

Got into Macgyver mode and came up with a way to mount MTH E.O.T. trucks underneath my Lionel Maxi Stacks. Altered the trucks by removing the couplers and installing Kaydee's so I would have an operational coupler. Mounted the FRED to the body of the car.

 

 

 I'm thinking the KDs will need to be on a swivel arm like the USAs to get along with shorter cars. I have not seen them other than your pics. A lot of RRs may need some changes with this new size of car. I wondered if this car was ever going to be released. These "Ultimate"s set the standard from the older poorly detailed, cheap plastic cars that were so popular in G. It's exciting to see what cars will be next.

I will be doing so each week in Scott's thread.  I only have so many pictures to share so I try to spread them out over the entire year.  I posted one of the left side in last week's thread, if you can find it.

That's a great town square scene. I just bought one of those Independence Halls off a forum member (expecting delivery today) ,and your photo has provided inspiration. I don't have  a Washington statue, however. I do have  three of the presidents Marx made in the 60's, so I will use one of them for the statue, or I'll rotate them.

Cool! Is that Roland Emmet? I love his work. It is a shame that for some reason his relatives will not let his work be republished. As a result relativly few know it besides the designs in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. They could really have a "Thomas" contender.

Do you know what track the locomotive is standing upon? I may have misplaced my marbles completely, but it looks to me like the old Tri-ang series 2 'OO' track. I haven't seen that in almost 50 years. 

Putting good use to my 3rd Rail E7B Phase II engineering sample to replace the shell of my K-Line E8 set.  Going to test run it this weekend, slowly add the detail needed to finish this project and make a unique E8A-E7B project with all the motors powered.

 

First step was to trim the pilot contour off the front of the chassis.

 

 

Shell mounted on the K-Line chassis.  Needs a lot of finish work!

 

 

Running just like the Pennsy did.  E8A connected to an E7B.  Need to transfer the diaphragm, but first I need to fabricate windows, screening, lift rings and other miscellaneous details prior to painting.

 

 

This engineering sample is full of errors, but I hope to cover most of them up, by the time the project is done.

I had a run night for the Lehigh Valley HiRailers at my place earlier this week. Here are some shots.

 

Terry brought over a camp car he has been working on. He bought the body on line. These are not easy to assemble!

 

The camp cars are hauled from site to site on special flatcars. These have no decking except at the very ends. Terry scratchbuilt everything but the trucks and couplers. 

 

Dave brought an 0-8-0 and a short train.

 

 

After a while, we swapped the 0-8-0 out for a CNJ 4-6-4T. It looked right at home with Dave's consist. 

 

We also had a couple of camelback powered trains running.Here they are passing each other at the Halloween scene.

 

After a good run. The Reading engine is MTH, and the NYO&W is Lionel.

 

Finally here is a shot of my city section. A lot of work needs to be done here.

We were changing out some light fixtures at the club today. Jack was on top of the layout hanging new lights over the engine house and decided to shoot this photo.

 

 

I finally got that separate-sale B-unit squared away and into the scale-wheeled consist. Had to make some modifications to it (it was actually configured backward, so I had to take the chassis apart) and swap one of its trucks with one from the B-unit that came with the scale-wheeled ABA set. Now the AB pairs are linked back-to-back with a three-rail coupler. I still have to get a set of scale wheels so I can run the set on a 2-rail setup. This also gave me some insight into the possibility of powering the B-units using spare parts.

 

E-mail me a high-res image of that Quincy photo and I'll use it in next year's Christmas image.  It will earn Quincy $50 for food, treats, litter, or whatever.  

Hi Nicole Your marbles are safe, you are right it is OO track but what make I don`t know.

1/24 scale loco making it G scale running on OO track a bit top heavy but making it cute.

Thanks James.   I've studied all of the pictures now, and I'm pretty sure that they are using some old Series 2 track for many of the pictures. That used to be my favourite track, and I much regretted its replacement by the Series 3 track without the ballast. I'm so happy to see that some is still around after all of these years. 

The kits and figures are wonderful, and I didn't think that they were very expensive when you consider what you are getting for the money.
