It's time for Weekend Photo Fun!

Last week I saw a ballast washer from the conference room window at the VMT;

We started taking apart the Winter kids window layout Wednesday. It's time to give the kids window a Spring feel:

I'll post more pictures a little later this morning. I have a 6 AM meeting I need to get to.

Let's see your pictures.

Last week, I posted some of the first photos of my new engine servicing facility which after 1 year + of construction is now about 85% complete. But the photos last week did not include an image of the boiler house. This is a beautiful kit made by Altoona Model Works, and was masterfully built by my friend Mark Vinski during our bi-weekly work sessions. My contribution was the weathering and then construction of the surrounding scenery.  I also scratchbuilt the steam line off to the left that carries the steam out of the boiler house and across the access road into the roundhouse.

It's pretty much done other than weathering the pavement. It is all mounted on a hatch that will be installed next to the roundhouse to allow access. For that reason it is pictured here sitting in my workshop awaiting installation. There will be a tall smokestack behind it (already built) but it will be mounted just behind the hatch.

Happy Friday! Decided to put a layer of ceiling tile down on the board. Should help with the noise a bit & forms a good base for the scenery. Also had to remove a couple of accessories, as I thought the board was looking a bit too cluttered. Still trying to find a way to work the 352 Ice Station back in, but not sure I can find a spot where it works.

My wife and I are spending some time here in the warm climate of Phoenix, AZ. Last night, it was my privilege to visit the Paradise and Pacific RR Club in Scottsdale, AZ. The members greeted me like an old brother of theirs. Their club layout is fabulous in every detail. You can visit their website here. There layout is open 7 days a week. Below are some of the photos that I took last night.

And my favorite of the layout is their magnificent lift bridge below. Which I had this on my layout. Go to their website to see the construction of this great bridge.

And oh by the way...as I left to get into my car last night, I cranked up my car and noted that it was 76 degrees at 8 pm. Stay warm my friends and have a great weekend. Warning to the club, I will return while I am here in Arizona.

Peter (Putnam Division) and I are on the same wavelength: love my D&H too. Here it is:

It is also a great puller. Easily pulls 11 or 12 post war operating cars (need to keep the wheels properly lubricated), which is the maximum my reverse loops allow; otherwise my train will hit its own tail.

I took these pictures about 1 hour ago, shortly before I saw Peter’s D&H pictures. Quite a coincidence.
