I think Peter’s D&H Diesel is Scale, and appears longer than mine; it is gorgeous. Mine may be semi scale, which is better for me because my layout limits me to engines that can handle 031 curves and 022 switches.

Fear not Arnold.  Your RS11 is scale.  As is Peter's SD45.

Thanks Fred. Don’t know all the different Diesel variations yet. Hopefully, I will learn them.

Peter (Putnam Division) and I are on the same wavelength: love my D&H too.

I'll third the sentiment - not a great picture, but all I've got at the moment...

I hope someone starts an "Any Delaware & Hudson Fans..." thread like the great New Haven thread.

Today my bookend came and am working on sign parts. Here is a mock up of what I am envisioning

The other thing I am doing to give the flat more depth is to create a false sense on an interior.

I am going to use a back lit photo film inside the center window area outlined in red and two of the lower dock doors I plan to do a small interior space of the dock with

kegs and cases of bottles etc. since they fall below the benchwork and track that runs behind these fronts. I've got about 5-6" of depth I can utilize.

Here is the image that is being printed on the back lit material.

and I found these thin LED light boxes on ebay really cheap and they are very thin, less than 1/4"

A friend of mine visited the NYC Transit museum over the holidays.  I had given him the tip that there's a 1:48 hobby shop on the layout with an "operating" layout shown in the front picture window.  He got this pretty good shot.

The train on the layout in the picture window actually runs.  I'm guessing the layout builders took the guts from one of those operating Christmas ornaments to make it.

Fun.

I think they removed the dome and motorized one of these:

You can see the little cutout at the base (held the dome on when it was a key-chain) of the item in the shop window.

IIRC, the train ran by pulling the key ring, made a lap or 2 for each pull.

Continuing to add to my NS First Responders rolling stock.

Picked up the MTH Operating Car, essentially an aquarium style car with a moving display. Looks and works great.

Some past discussion about the red paint difference between Lionel and MTH. Here's a pic. There is a slight difference but really not noticeable at all when they're running on the layout.

MTH on the left, Lionel on the right.

You are correct....mine is a RailKing Scale SD-45.

Arnold.....I suspect your RS-11 is very close to its true scale size.

Peter

I’ve had this finished and waiting for paint for about six months now. A MOW tender very loosely based on a cross between a picture of an IC and PRR car I saw. It figures I saw today it’s in the new Lionel catalog. I’ve got a half hearted helium car too Lionel, if you’re looking for something to annoy me with in your next catalog.
