It's very early Friday morning and I have been watching March Madness. I'm still awake so let's start Weekend Photo Fun now.

Here are some logging engines on my layout;

Here's a few pics for this week. First, just to get your attention is the rear of an eastbound Conrail freight whizzing by a shiny red Mustang convertible at the Anderson Road grade crossing deep in the heart of the former PRR Middle Division:

Next, with the engine servicing facility that I've been posting pictures of recently nearing completion, it's now time to start planning for the construction of downtown Altoona. This will consist of a series of building facades mounted up against the back drop. Here you see some paper mock-ups as well as the three raw Chooch epoxy facades I purchased about ten years ago. They were produced in tiny quantities, and I don't think they are still being made. They are gorgeous, and I wish I could get a few more. There are also some paper mock-ups of a few other structures, one to be scratchbuilt, and and a few others to be constructed out of DPM components. Finally, there is a photo of the same area taken in the late 50's that shows the look I am trying to achieve:

Scott,  You do an impressive job rotating the children's display at the VMT.  I visited 5 years ago and I really enjoyed the museum and the museum's 3 rail display.  It is a wonderful way to promote the  hobby.  The Rapid Rabbit Railway is outstanding.

Christopher,

I am really impressed that you know the make and model of every NS and CSX diesel.  Do you have a list of all the engines that these railroads own by number and model?

SIRT,

Great engine! some of us do like BN, and I'm one of them. I have the Odyssey version of this engine, cab number 5734. The electronics stink in it, but it's a great looking engine, and I run it with my Atlas  BN SD-40 and two dummy units. We use it to pull a grain train of solid BN hoppers, and this consist has pulled our longest train...54 grain hoppers, the longest train we can pull without yanking the cars over on our sharpest curve. Great job on the weathering!

I quit posting pictures of my engine servicing facility as I have posted quite a few over the past few weeks, but this was a "grab" shot that I took with my cell phone, and I thought it was particularly nice, so I figured, what the heck, at the risk of boring Forum members, I'd go ahead and post it. Scene is about 90% completed. Currently doing detail work like weathering autos, installing power lines, figures, and other details. Enjoy!

Neal, I thought the above picture was of your layout!😉

This weekend's photo shows the results of minor adjustments made to enhance play value for the grandkids (and grandpa): 1. Rail Rax along the edge provide a highway for vehicles, a walkway for more people, or even a siding for car storage.   2. Doorbell push buttons have been replaced with K-Line switches, so the construction vehicles can operate continuously without tying up operator hands.

National Capital Trackers ES44AC by MTH RailKing handles most of the tonnage now on the lower level 0-27 line.
