My son and I popped the town of Duncannon out of the layout last weekend to complete final detailing. Here are a few photos of the work. The first shows the entire town sitting on a pair of sawhorses in the workshop. The second and third are close up views at street level. Once the detailing is done, all of the wiring below the town has to be finished. Then the module will be put back into place for the last time.
Great photos this week!! Very inspirational

Wow some really fine modeling here...what a treat! Great work everyone, and thanks for sharing your photos.
Our club is set up today at the WNCMRRC 25th Annual Train Show near Asheville NC. A really good show with over 200 vendor's tables and 6 operating layouts - our being the 'Hit of the Show' with the kids!
If you are anywhere in this area drop by - a good show with a lot of 3 rail. A fella named Tom has 6 -8 tables of excellent + Postwar items

Not much new for me this week, lately my budget has been going towards my other hobbies. I did pick up a WS General Store building, so my downtown is slowly coming along. This was one of Woodland's first releases and didn't come with lighting, so I installed a Evens Designs mega chip LED.

I love this scene! I have driven by Duncannon on Rt. 15 when traveling to Sunbury, but never been in town. Great detailing on the streets. I love all the pictures that you have been posting. Please continue to share your fine modeling skills.
Here's one of my recent finds from the Monroeville, PA Greenberg show a few weeks back:
I don't know how I ever missed seeing these before. Now I have to hunt down the rest of them, providing I can find sellers who don't want an arm and a leg for them (there is one on that auction site now with an asking price of $149! ).
I just love the Chessie graphics on this.

Picked up a few nice PW cars.
Erie Cop and Hobo Car. Always a favorite.
Operating Aquarium Car (actually a PWC remake).

Andy, nice find. I never saw those either. I'm not really a C&O person but I do like the Chessie cat and I do collect Chessie B&O. Good luck finding the rest.

Johnny (WMTrainnut99), thanks for your comments. The real town indeed has a turreted building and a bank right on the town square.
Here's a few more pics. The first shows the hole in the layout that will be filled by the scenic module once completed. The two others are a view west up the Juniata River Valley showing a Conrail autoparts/auto rack train headed east.

Neal.....
Your layout has always inspired me. I am building a triple track PRR influenced layout that I hope will be half as nice.......
This photo REALLY hits the target I am shooting for. My layout is set in the 50's but I have modern equipment that will get run too. I LIKE this!!!!!!

Neal, Awesome photo and subject matter!
Although I think the layout is better suited to postwar, MPC era equipment looks equally at home on it -
Since Lucia loves all sea things, I picked up this MTH sea horse aquarium car for her -
The kids ( & Quimby the Cat) enjoying the trains last weekend -
Picked up the 8559 N&W GP9 off the bay last week -
Lucia wanted to go see some trains, so we took a ride to Roanoke last Saturday -
Also picked up a Lionel Little Lines set for Lorenzo - He loves it!
Some more Altoona pics -

$50, and I thought that was high, but I really wanted it.

Double coincidences in less than 48 hours:
Friday: I'm starting to wonder about my MTHRRC RailKing ES44, seeing that the shipping month on the site showed February. Normally I would have brushed off the delay, but I knew my CC number had changed sometime within the last 18 months, and was unsure if the change had occurred before or after I put down the deposit on this loco.
I had composed an email inquiry to MTH when I thought to check my CC statement online (I usually do this just before the due date in order to pay off purchases that arrived after the last statement). Lo and behold, there was the pending charge from MTH for the balance of the purchase, dated 3/3.
Then the second coincidence. Normally Saturdays are the designated "eat out" day. As we left the house for the local Five Guys, I noticed a USPS truck a few doors down the street. I mentioned that reminded me that I should have a package arriving soon, but didn't think to stick around to see if he had anything for us since I knew MTH ships via FedEx.
It wasn't until about 3am that night that I remembered "FedEx SmartPost," where the USPS takes over for the "last mile". And that I didn't look up at the front door upon our return since we left and returned via the basement door (our house has the basement at ground level--the main entrance is at a porch one flight of steps above street level). I go and stick my head out the door, and there it was, propped up next to the doorway. Oofah.
Out of the box and onto the workbench for inspection. I found something that looked like a lift ring inside the inner foam wrapping that I determined was one of the coupler lift-bar rings. A few seconds of fiddling with a pair of tweezers fixed that.
Now cranking it up for the first time. At 4:11am. Hope I didn't wake the neighbors--there were no volume issues with this PS3 unit:
I noticed that the model designation on the side sill says "ES44C4" I wonder if that's a sly reference to the RK truck block, which only powers 2 of the three axles
The chase lights are more subdued than on earlier ES44 hybrids. The look more electroluminescent than LED. The effect is more subtle, closer to the real-life demonstrator than MTH's previous incarnations. I forget whether the "ground light" is a feature that appeared before or after PS3, but it's a welcome sight nonetheless.
And here is a clip of the start-up and lighting effects. This test is in conventional. When I get a chance to put it on the test track, I'll pair it with the MTHRRC SD70ACE from 2011.

Some Great photos again this week. Here's a pic from our layout this week.
My son Mason got a job lot of 00 Gauge cardboard buildings for £10 at a train show and has placed them on the layout while playing with his army men. So that explains the odd buildings!
Have a good Sunday

Doug, these are simply beautiful! Great job.
Are they in your video update yet?
Old school Saturday.
I had converted these to TMCC with an LCRU including a dummy board in the non powered A many years ago. Decided to go back to its roots and put the old E-unit and horn & relay back in. These trains are what the hobby is about.
Nice. Looks like you're building another layout. Any more photos?
Found the appropriate signage for this short wall. Now I have to figure out how to cut some more GDS shelves to put a short one next to the thermostat and a couple more below the SP caboose(s)

Dave, LOL! It was originally priced at $20, but got $2 off since I paid cash.

Another fantastic weekend of photos!

No video yet Sam... the layout is a mess again. My Dad is working on the back side tunnel liners and rock walls to get that finished up. Main lines are out of service at the moment.
B&O Bob, what's with all that Armour Yellow stuff?
Neal, though I'm Virginian born and raised, I'm still a softie for the Pennsy.
*dang* I hate this autospellchecker that's always getting things wrong!
