Weekend Photo Fun has begun!

I have finished redoing two #18 passenger cars and now I will be on the look-out for the 190 Observation car.

For special events at church, I to have some standard gauge track and o-gauge track. I seem to have a bad piece or two of the standard gauge, so I set up carpet central to test and find out which ones were bad.

I started a thread earlier this week about the use of specialty lighting on a layout and properly used, how much it can enhance a scene or an entire layout.

The photo I have selected for the week's Photo Fun Thread speaks volumes of what I am talking about. It sure makes good use of "color" and gets your attention.

Happy Weekend to everyone!  Here are a few shots of a Weaver Lehigh & New England 40' PS-1 Boxcar fresh out of the weathering shop.

I've been trying to work on (and improve) my "less is more" weathering skills with the last few cars I've done, including this one.  Anyone who has tried weathering has probably realized that it's very easy to be too "heavy-handed"...and not all freight cars deserve such treatment!!

The John Bull on the Camden and Amboy Railroad as it passes through Bordentown NJ in the mid 1800's. This was done on a door found at the curb and is assembled and displayed during the holidays in Bordentown. Even though it is the smallest layout at the show, it is surprisingly popular with the young ones.

My car would have been on there too, but.  (a quick true story)  One of the heartbreaks of my life was back in 1964.  My mother was tired of me drag racing her 1964 Tri-Power Pontiac Grand Prix and she wanted buy me a car so I would leave hers alone.  I don't know how I did it, but I got her to go look at a 1960 Corvette that was for sale.  We drove over to the owner's house and the car was sitting at the corner of his property.  We got out to look at it.  I couldn't believe it but the car was red/white, one of my favorites.  The top was down and she said get in and see how it feels.  I got in and I couldn't get my legs in position to drive.  I was 6'5" when I was in high school. (Shrunk a bit with age.)  There was no way and we had to leave.  I couldn't fit in a Corvette to drive until 1963.

In some ways I wonder if a guardian angel might have been looking over me because I don't know if I would have survived the ownership of a Corvette back in the days when people rarely wore seat belts, etc.

BTW J Daddy - I love those Evans Auto-Loaders, and you have some nice cars on them.  Were those K-Line?

A 2014 Christmas Layout memory

Built a "Waltburg" on the layout.

Closeup of my Daughter's house.

Her son likes Spiderman, thus the figure on the roof.

Her Daughter likes Disney Princesses and takes ballet lessons:

Her son is also in the Boy Scouts and enjoys camping, so I set up this little "camping scene" in the backyard of their house:
