WEEKEND PHOTO FUN 4-22-16-??

I've been in Southern Florida the past week.  (Missed York)   So just a quick cell camera photo of the layout this week.

I will be adding more spot lights to this station soon.

Steve, awesome works as always.  I love the coil gon, especially your weathering/detailing work on the interior.  Who made this car?  Did it come with those load dividers, or were they custom-built?

Thanks Joey. MTH gondola. Load dividers are generally removable for separate painting. This one was melted in, so it required some extra tricks to paint the interior. Found a real car photo. Never knew the interiors were a grey primer finish with a yellowish rust appearance. Learned something new on this one. As you know, I specialize in paint faded cars. Chessies were dark blue when I started.

Well the day finally came.
On 4/16/16 we welcomed Giovanna Sofia into the world - 

Seeing the trains run for the first time yesterday -  

Obviously I didn't get much done on the layout this week, but I did run the trains for the kids a bit. Here's a few shots 

N&W 611 crosses the Roanoke River at Alta Vista, VA on the old Southern Main Line -

The day before the baby was born, I took the kids to catch the NS OCS heading through our town -

followed by 337 a few hours later -

This is the only tin-plate accessory that I own.  Man-o-man, when I sold all of my MTH stuff 2 summers ago in order to enter the tin-plate world I wish now that I would have checked out prices first.  WHEW!  This stuff is PRICEY!  Beautiful, but pricey.

N5CJONNY,  Your Grand Central Terminal is really nice.  The lighting is cool.  All you need now are more Chrysler or DeSoto taxicabs!

Congratulations to the family on the new addition, Giovanna sure has a lot of hair!

(They tell me my new nephew is bald as a cueball, we'll see if hair grows in the last few weeks:-)

Thank you for the kind words Marty! I agree on the taxi cabs, I have been looking for more 40's and 50's style taxi cabs and as you may know they are not always easy to find. I also have been considering HO scale as the offerings in O look somewhat large next to the station.

Chris, the kids must have your wife's looks. Beautiful I have raised my 4 now with 9 grand grand chrildren . Beautiful pictures ENJOY THEM.  It goes by quick.

I bought this little train from the Underground Railroad in Orange Hall.

I just posted a new video in my LCJ&I Lines series, an alphabetic tour of my layout. This is for two-year-olds of all ages. The whole alphabet is hidden on my layout, but now, for the first time, it's revealed! And of course, there's a sing-a-long at the end, to celebrate. Where is the alphabet hidden on your layout?

Thanks for the pictures.   I  remember seeing this MEC caboose 30+ years ago rolling by my hometown train watching spot in Benton, Maine.  

The Pine green has faded, but the Harvest Yellow still looks good.

Ugh, that was the longest week ever. Catching up on school work from an orchestra trip. Still had to get out the stuff my dad got at York... Here's the new Erie FA-1s hauling a few cars from various Anthracite railroads.

I was able to get the new Lionel O Scale ENGELHARD uni-body tank car that looks like the tank cars that used to be pulled up to the paper plants in Kalamazoo, Michigan over the Grand Trunk Western branch line. Next to it is the Lionel O Scale ENGELHARD uni-body tank car made in 1998. Notice the new railing on the end of the car and the new roller bearing trucks on the UTLX tank car.

Had this beauty waiting for me when I got home from being on the road all week. My first purchase from Mr. Muffins but certainly not my last
