Passing thru.
I also got got to attend the first ever Rails & Ales event at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania - nothing better than having some microbrews among a pristine railroad collection, talk about combining a few of my favorite things! I even got to legally have a beer in the cab.
The NS lawmen provided live music entertainment and they always put on a wonderful show - they played my favorites of Orange Blossom Special and City of New Orleans which just made the night that much better!! Afterward they were kind enough to get a picture with me and GG1 #4935.
To top it all off I stayed the night nearby at the Red Caboose motel which is under wonderful new management.

Very nice, DohertyNJ! How does it run and sound? The only reason I didn't get one of these MTH R&N engines is because I pre-ordered one of the Lionel SD38's that will feature the all-new kinematic pilot design. Good luck with it...please post a video if/when you get a chance!

Put the old 2353 on the track. wow, I forgot how much I like this era of F3's. That low growl is practically a sound system in itself.

Glad I kept my foil hat.

Thanks,
It runs and sounds jut as good as it looks. I think you can't go wrong with premier MTH diesels w/proto 3.
I'll try to post a video soon!
I had been hoping that this weekend's photo fun would be at the Great Scale Train Show, Timonium, MD with the National Capital Trackers. However, a number of unforeseen events led to the Trackers having to cancel their participation. I used the time, then, to set up a place for my American Power & Light building, by Menard's, on the home layout. Since it is a coal-fired plant, a Pennsylvania RS-11 went to work hauling fuel to the plant.
The lure of the show was too much, though. Since it is only a few miles from home, I went over anyway. I'm glad I did. I discovered the Stillwater Meadow Modular Train Group, from York, PA. They were at their first Timonium show. They have a fantastic, very well-sceniced layout. Milwaukee Road #261 was among the fine locomotives in operation.

A little late, but here are some photos from my trains, planes and automobiles adventure to get to York and back with an emphasis on the trains. Please excuse the crappy cell phone shots where I didn't have my camera ready!
The last operating Amtrak AEM7 leased to MARC on April 12, 2016. This won't be around much longer.
An Acela powers through BWI on the middle track at about 90.
Marc MP36 pushing a local at BWI.
My Amtrak Regional arrives at BWI with fairly new ACS64 in the lead.
Former Metroliner converted to cab car getting set in place for a Keystone Service train in Harrisburg on the 16th.
Amtrak ACS64 awaiting its next assignment in Harrisburg, PA
GG1 4859 needs no introduction in Harrisburg.
Pennsy N6 Cabin in Harrisburg, PA
Cell phone grab of Septa AEM7 in Trenton NJ on April 16th.
LIRR DE30AC in Patchogue, Long Island on April 17th. Just a quick cell phone grab.
This was effectively all the trains I brought home from York!

This is an MTH Santa Fe caboose with an added touch. SF cabooses had white lights mounted to illuminate the end platforms at night.
I bought a ditch light kit made by Dan's L.E.D.epot, disassembled the caboose, and added the kit to one end of the caboose (the figure in the cupola was facing short-end ahead so I put the light kit on the long end). The caboose had too many interior lights for my taste so I cut off one bulb and used its wires to splice to the light kit. The space inside the platform roof is quite small, and it caused the need to move the lights toward the center. To be accurate the lights would need to be mounted right at the eave's edge. It ain't perfect, but it ain't bad, either.
