Here are some photos of the hi-tension power line I installed to provide power to my roundhouse. The transformer installation was built by Stu Gralnik, owner of Model Building Services, and is just a great model. I built the rest using 5/16" dowel rods that I rasped to obtain the proper taper, then stained. Insulators were made of beading material from Jo-Ann fabrics and painted gloss brown. Once assembled, they were wired together using Berkshire Junction elastic wire. I used guy wires attached to additional poles to anchor the power line where it turned corners. The final image is of an actual substation not far from my house that I used to help guide construction. I was really pleased with how this model turned out.

I've been making an attempt to run trains at least once a day.   I was running a mixed frieght train with two units up front and the 3rd engine placed in the middle.    IMG_20180405_190042858

The lead units proceeded along the yard passing track.   Then I heard something strange 8ft back at the start of the yard.   The mid train engine had pushed too hard and caused a tanker to pick a switch.   I brought the train to a stop and now the train is split onto two parallel tracks!IMG_20180405_190100289IMG_20180405_190120556IMG_20180405_190207618

The work crew uncoupled the tanker.  The mid train BNSF unit also uncoupled and backed away from the rest of the train.   Then the lead units pushed back to the switch that was picked.IMG_20180405_190542841

But the crew didn't move out of the way.  Now we have two men down.IMG_20180405_190711421IMG_20180405_190822868IMG_20180405_190850941

Continued pushing back past the switch.   Train is back onto the passing train.

These 2023s were part of the nice PW buy I made a month or so ago and may not have been operated for 20+ years. I gave them a quick test run on the club layout last week and they surprised me - very smooth, both lights and the E unit worked flawlessly.  Sure wish they didn't have that darned 'hump'.

A beautiful set however, shows very little wear for 68 years...

Neal have always enjoyed your fantastic modeling, especially since also primarily a Pennsy fan.

But, your 50,000 gallon steel water tank, presumedly  by Weaver.  One thing has been bugging me.  The "Trapezium" or "Trapezoidal Prism"  foundations should/are mostly buried subsurface. According to Pennsy drawings the top of the Trapezium where the tank mounting plates are would be even with the top of the track rails.

I bought the grandkids a train set for Christmas several years back. They broke just about everything they could. I priced the repair of the engine and ran across another engine for a good price. We decided to keep it here as they would probably just break that one too.

Several years later the engine is still here and sitting untouched. So I finally opened the box to find that several things had rusted and/or seized up. The front truck pin and wheels would not move. The smoke motor was also seized. So I did a quick service to have it run for the grandson while he was here. So he has another engine, that will remain here just for them. They behave in front of me with the trains. When they're alone, they manage to break a lot of stuff.

I didn't get the smoke unit working so when he left I swapped out the motor. I did get that one working later on.

On holiday in Florida at the moment.

Mason can’t wait. We don’t get to go to train stores that stock 3 rail O gauge very often!

I don't have a picture of my E44. I am hoping that MTH comes out with a DD1 again or one shows up on the For Sale Forum.

Almost picked up a L5 at a good price once.  But decided that my Pennsy electrics roster was complete enough.  I also do have my first scale Williams GG1 a green five stripe #4859.  Was going to sell but bought it new from Williams long before they lowered their pricing.  Am more into Pennsy steam and first generation diesels.

The three MTH GG1's are significant models:

The green #4835 was the next to last GG1 built.  And more significantly in 76/77 FFOG (Friends of the GG1) repainted Amtrak's (original 4835) to its original Pennsy green-5-stripe livery.  It pulled Amfleet cars in revenue into 1980.

And my red motor #4876 was green when it crashed into Washington Union Station just before Ike's inauguration.  After in was cut apart and rebuilt in was painted red.

And then there is" Feathers" motor #4829, Very Special.

A few quick shots of these trains sitting on the track.SantaFeE8

I'm going to be reworking my layout soon to add some more space. Basically so I can add another passenger train. I currently have the Super Chief and El Capitan pulled by F3s and the Chief pulled by PAs. My original plan was to pick up a 3460 "Blue Goose" hudson and make a Grand Canyon Limited train. Now I can't decide if I should do that or pick up some E8s and make up a Chicagoan train. Thanks
