Photo story from Michigan - “Took The Grandchildren To Chi-town”
Welcome to Chi-town Union Station the largest 2-Rail Scale layout in America. This layout is only about two miles from my train room. ▶︎ Chi-Town Union Station • 8275 Cooley Lake Rd, Commerce Charter Twp, MI 48382 ▶︎ Web address: http://chi-townunionstation.com/
Riding in grandma’s car to Chi-town.
Walking to the main entrance on a chilly Saturday.
The boys are checking out the window displays.
Buying four tickets.
Here the boys are watching the trains at the Chelsea grain elevators. This is where they make the famous Jiffy Mix.
Gribbell Field, a fictional airport.
A funny sign as we entered the Chicago side of the layout.
A crew member takes care of a derailment.
Mr. Paul Gribble, The owner is talking to the boys about his first train set, Lionel.
We are now leaving and the boys had a great time. Now back to grandpa’s train room.
Thanks for taking a look & have a great weekend: 🇺🇸 Gary & my train crew. 🇺🇦
Great pictures. Always a fun topic. Mark
....and with the extra sand dumped......
.....here is one place where I deviated from the instructions.....the truck bumpers are supposed to be all dark gray.....I added some dry brushed yellow....
Have a great and safe weekend, folks!

As a lad made many of visit to an Isaly's. Have two of MTH's Isaly's building. One looks a lot like the one at the other end of the block from my Grandpa's "Beer Garden."

It’s always ice cream time in Farmingdale!
About a year ago I got a great tip from another forumites in Rockford, IL. He suggested that i purchase the book, “The Burlington Waycars.” I did purchase the book and I am so glad I did. It weighs about 10 lbs and is a plethora of information with many photographs and drawings of every class of the CB&Q waycars. Like all the books I purchase, there is a problem, I want to build many of the cars I see in the book. I found in this book a NE-7 waycar on a CB&Q flatcar. I had a Red Caboose CB&Q flat car so I made the caboose for a load for the car. It makes a nice addition to my freight train. In the photo the couplers and brake gear had been stripped from the cab so I modeled it that way. I still have to add the tie-downs which appear to be re-bar through the stake pockets and holes drilled in the waycar frame crossmembers.
brother love, that way car would be nice to build ready to roll and sell too!
This weeks rare find. MEC 801 on ebay. Added super cap, weathering to follow.
Waited 12 years to get this one. OEM missed out on another opportunity I guess? I often wonder why the latest silly fantasy offerings outweigh the items in demand? Must be a volume thing?

Steve,
A really rare find, sometimes a long wait is rewarded. Can't wait what the RS11 will look after weathering. The pulpwood car's in the background also look stunning.

Decided to have a try at weathering one of my Lionel Pennsy GLA hoppers to try and tone down the obnoxious color a little bit. I'm pretty happy with the results and plan on doing the other 2 soon.
