Busy evening on the mainline near the station.

This week, I'm posting some photos of my model of the Pennsylvania  Sand Glass plant (today known as US Silica) near Mapleton PA which is still under construction and has a long way to go...

This photo shows the sand enclosure where the sand is dumped into a conveyor to be taken for processing. Note the chipped up concrete from the equipment banging into the concrete wall:

And here's the loading facility I posted pictures of a few weeks ago made out of a Lionel engine house with various modifications and weathering:

Like I said, I have a LONG way to go to get the plant finished, particularly construction of the conveyor system, but this will give you an idea of what I'm currently working on.

It's almost time to plant my flowers outside, so I may be taking a pause from work on the sand plant for a bit. Until then, enjoy!

Marty, what are the steamers you got double headed? I think there was two, hard to see on the small phone screen.

VL Big Boy and first release Legacy Black 844.  I just reworked the track last weekend to get rid of an "S" curve that was preventing me from doing so. All 3 loops have MU'd trains on them currently.

I also noticed one of the station personnel is taking a nap right next to the tracks.  LOL!

With the track reworked and a new switch, I updated the LCS drawing on the iPad.

A 2020 Christmas Layout memory

Continuing this week with the plateau and Christmas/winter scene area.  It's hard to tell but the ferris wheels are Christmas decorated with a Santa and elves riding and some other stuff.  They play Christmas tunes.

Another temp 7’x9’ layout built out of boredom.  I’ve already shown images of the 1^st one (Easter) and decided I enjoyed that enough to do another.  This was built back in mid-February.  As I’ve mentioned before with my Easter temp layout, I have so many beautiful Christmas pieces that I could never use them all on my 11’x14’ Christmas layout and I dislike having them just sit in boxes where I don’t get to enjoy seeing them, so I did this temp Christmas layout

I just realized I had a photo of the entire layout as it now exists. The upcoming 5x10’ extension will eventually connect to the near end, giving me a 5x19’ layout. The new layout won’t be as congested, I think, and will represent rural areas. We’ll see......

Zeke, great photography of a great scene.  Only the third rail lets you know it's a model.

I got this LC+ 2.0 Pennsy GG1 a couple of weeks ago. It is the perfect size for my smaller setup. The sounds are really cool with the simulated overhead wire slack and the female engineer. My daughter noticed her voice right away and exclaimed, “That’s a girl conductor!” She references everything back to the Dinosaur Train TV series.  

This week was also my first time back on a plane for work. I had to go from Pittsburgh to Miami to perform the final ATO tuning on the new Hitachi cars for Miami-Dade Metrorail. But we had the train stopping within +/-18” of the stopping point even in the monsoon rain Wednesday night

Thanks, Steve, it’s another one of my hobbies! (UFO’s). The hanger is a repainted Plasticville. With a little paint and embellishments, they can look good.

Those are K Line 15 inchers Joe. Polished aluminum. The Pacemaker cars are also K Line.

Thanks DGJONES for your kind words glad you enjoyed them. They are dwarf shrubs and trees that i buy from a greenhouse in Ephrata Pa. and with a little pruning stay small .
