More work on Max Foods.....the outdoor steps and loading ramps.

IMG_8472IMG_8474IMG_8482IMG_8506IMG_8510

Max Foods is designed to be taken apart and stored between modular group shows. I have a series of pics on how it comes apart and fits together. I will save those for Scenic Showcase on Sunday.

Tomorrow, I will join some of the modular group members to work on their modules. This is where they left off last weekend.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Tuesday tested and pick up this engine at local toy train dealer.

A thanks to fellow forum member Mark Boyce for pointing me to it.

Normally I test for a couple of hours but was hurting a little so cut it to one-hour.  Everything worked perfectly.  Start-up/shutdown, forward/reverse, front and rear couplers, horn/bell, speed control.  Only tested to 60-SMPH because of shorten time.  Did not see how slow it would go but did run it around the loop at 2-SMPH with no hesitations.

Only one disappointment.  MTH was too stingy to include a complete printed manual with a $500.00 engine.  All there was is the "cheap" crappy generic "Quick Start Manual."  Now it points to the website to download a full manual which dose NOT exist.  I contacted them days ago with no reply as of yet.

To put this in respective of customer service, About a year ago was thinking on a Lionel product from 2015 catalog.  As is my custom went to Lionel website to download instruction manual for review.  None was there.  Contacted Lionel.  Within 24-hours received a reply apologizing and a clickable point to the manual.  Mike R's legacy remains.

Another smash hit from Lionel arrived this week - the LC+ Reading and Northern #425. This has been on my list to ride one day as well as the real 425 is still in active service.

Lionel did a great job on this. Not prototypically perfect but a real winner. Glass smooth out of the box and a perfect runner. Fantastic paint and detail work. Someone made sure it was done well - even down to the pinstripes on the driver spokes, tender trucks, and stars on the wheel centers. Very happy.

Next week, the long-awaited MTH Premier Alco FA-1 arrives at my LHS...... 425

DANG! !!  That picture of the Aerotrain really makes me regret selling mine as part of my collection sell-off.  That train was by far my favorite.

Wow, Walt.  I wish I knew you were selling that Aerotrain back then, because I would have bought it.  Then you could have bought it back from me at the same price, after you pried it out of my cold dead hands.    Of course, being over 70 now, I might not be too far from that point.

CNJ 1601: This set of equipment and your article regarding your work to create it has been my inspiration to do something similar for both SIRT and B&O.  Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words, RTH...and glad to hear I inspired you!  I still have two more cars to build to complete the CNJ's Ashley Service Train.  I'll get to them one of these days.  Please share some photos of what you've created!
