Weekend Photo Fun 7-18-14-??

A few assorted pictures taken over this past month.

My MTH Steelers dump car is parked under the (unwired) coal loader in the town of Stanton, Pa. on the D.A.R.E. Model RR Club's O gauge West Penn Railroad.

Frac sand and natural gas in a Wheeling and Lake Erie (?) yard near Latrobe/Greensburg.

Wheeling and Lake Erie hoppers east of/in Belle Vernon, Pa. (you might want to zoom in).

HO P&WV Mikado with DCC/Sound on the train club's Montour RR.

Action (and clutter) on the West Penn.

Pittsburgh and Ohio Central train near Bridgeville, Pa.

Wheeling and Lake Erie/unknown railroad bridges west of Belle Vernon, Pa. There are CSX/NS tracks on either side of this valley below the bridges. The bridges look like ex-N&W/P&WV.

I shot a video of the extended loop-to-loop run off the Mountain Branch and secondary mainline. This operation will support multi-train operation, but the operators really have to pay attention to avoid having a "Gomez Addams incident."

A lot has changed in this area. The tunnel in the background was "daylighted" and the On30 is being installed as is evidence of logging activity.

Heading into the upper reverse loop/auxiliary staging.

Here it is about to hit the newly-installed sprung crossover to reverse in the staging yard. The turnouts are set up so that normal running of the secondary main hits the turnouts in trailing point mode. The turnouts are also equipped with pins to lock them closed if needed. The springing is firm enough to hold the points, but soft enough so even scale wheels will pass through safely.

The club layout looks terrrific. Been way too long since I've been there. 

Hey Matt, the club is looking good. The wife and I will be out there around October 11th for some biz and we will be taking some extra days of Vacation to hang around So Cal. 

I see the ships funnel was found, I want to do some work on it when I am there.

A new engine I picked up last week.

The layout is coming down but I was able to shoot up to Flint today to photograph the Rio Grande 464 Mudhen at Huckleberry Railroad

Sweet! Beautiful loco, can you provide a little more info like manufacturer and model? i'd love to find one like it. i have a k line switcher i plan to paint and remake into an SCL. Congrats on a nice pickup.

Here is a bridge made from Erector parts I got at Charles Ro for $10. I sprayed a couple of coats of metallic silver.
