Took #2 son back to college last weekend at Missouri State in Springfield, MO. I always knew that Springfield was the operational home to one of my favorite's, the Frisco. While driving near campus, I spotted the old operational headquarters bldg.....slammed on the brakes and stopped to take some pictures. The building houses a small BNSF district office now, other businesses rent out office space...and the building is up for sale (sigh). Another fallen flag goes dark....
Enjoy the shots from inside the building..
Nice shot, John Sethian. Do you have any overall shots of your layout you can share?

Today I walked the grade of the Argentine Central Railroad from Silver Plume, Colorado to Pavilion Point where a dance hall once stood. It was an 8 mile round trip with a 950' change in altitude at 10,000' high Pavilion Point. It was a great day.
This is switchback number one:
Here is the Georgetown Loop train as seen from Pavilion Point at 10,000':

A busy curve on Track One...(K-Line Hi-rail trax, laid in 1994-95)...
Franky! Nice shot.
Ha! You should talk, Patrick! (Thank you, sir ! )Don't think I missed those three beauties you posted (but I had to leave the computer yesterday before I could get to say more.) That third one reminded me of some places I had been in and around the Pittsburgh of my youth - very much so, including the pride of locomotives, ready for business...
And my compliments to Jim Policastro - man-o-man, you sure are a master of doing the most one can with the space available! Everywhere one looks, it's as handsome as can be.
John Sethian, Boin106, & Ben (BluelineC), my hat's off to you, too, gentlemen. Those scenes captured familar feelings and impressions of real places and moments I have seen, somewhere along the railroads of my life.
This whole thread (a really nice idea, Scott,) is such a treat to view, with its whimsical places, Holiday treasures, real-life shots ( I never saw the location, for example, of a real switchback), projects, favorite trains a-runnin', historical memorabilia, all of it very good, and nice to see us taking the time out to play.

Please forgive me for asking, but is this a milk processing facility? If so, then I believe that there may be a slight spelling error in 'Dairies'. If not, then again, please excuse me for suggesting such.
You have created a beautiful building. I love all of the detail in the pipework and walkway.
Alan - Very nice building! As Nicole pointed out a "unique" way to spell dairy. Thanks for sharing pictures of your beautiful work.

Thank God my customer pointed this out when he picked it up. I corrected the spelling. All I had to do was check the dictonary but since I thought "a model builder knows everything", I got caught taking a shortcut. At least I did not put the window or door in the wrong place.

Marker, you're right, it is very sad to see our pine trees dying from the beetle kill. Actually in Georgetown and Silver Plume it's still not that bad. It looks like maybe 25% are dead or dying. It's much worse in Rocky Mountain National Park where over 75% are dead. We're waiting for the big fire to come there. It's just a matter of time.
Alan, Very nice job on your project. I think you put those letters in that order to keep us on our toes and to "MILK IT" for all it's worth NICE JOB!!!
No photo this week but check out the shed my Dad scratchbuilt. I plunked her down on my layout and shot some video. Hope you enjoy.
Inspired by Scott Smith, I cut, screwed and stained several 2x4s together in order to create some display shelves in my home office.
