Thanks Scott for getting us rolling! My theme of this weeks Photo Fun is " The Commuter Station" Have a great weekend everyone!
For this weekend, I ran two New Haven Railroad locomotives on my 12’-by-8’ layout. Budd Rail Diesel Car #121 (Sunset Models) ran on the O-72 outer loop and Fairbanks Morse CPA-24-5 #792 (Lionel) was on an O-54 middle loop. The Sunset RDC model is scale-size - 21 inches in length - equivalent to 84 feet full scale.
The New Haven acquired #792 in 1952. It was one of ten class DER-4 locomotives with a 12-cylinder 2,400 horsepower opposed-piston engine and was used to haul heavy passenger trains on the Shore Line (New Haven to Boston) and the Springfield Line (New Haven to Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA). They were retired by 1961 due to the high cost of engine overhaul.
Also in 1952, eight Budd RDCs entered local passenger service on the New Haven and 40 were in use on the railroad by mid-1953, including #121 – an RDC-2 with baggage and passenger compartments. After the Boston & Maine Railroad, the New Haven was the largest user of RDCs. On the New Haven, they were known as “Shoreliners” and many remained in service until the railroad was merged into Penn Central in 1969.

Mel, I remember seeing the original Budd cars in the early days...wish i had a couple on the layout! Great pics...
Here are a few nighttime shots of my layout, which I don’t normally post. Most are of my engine servicing area, but there is also one of the station at downtown Altoona.

Thanks fellows!
I'm always pleased when people like my New Haven trains.
Here are two more photos of NH #121 and #792.

Now that summer is over I've got to stop running trains and get back to building the layout! I really like this Atlantic it has great sounds and lots of smoke.
A 2023 Christmas Layout memory
Started showing the last remaining section of the layout. It's a 5'x8' "plateau" featuring models that I made of family members' houses.

OVERALL VIEW:
I'll start by zeroing in on the model of my son's house in Macedonia, OH. And "yes" they do have a swimming pool in the back - kinda fancier that this one.

Rich, that looks like the ingredients for one very smoky basement!
Longfellow, Pennsylvania, circa 1967. PRR mainline tracks are just out of view to the right as can be seen in the second picture. The road is Pennsylvania Route 103.
Neal, great scenery, and a cool GTO crossing the bridge!
A few nighttime shots.

Dave, You're right! The funny thing is I took the shot there because it's right under my exhaust fan!
@PRRMiddleDivision : As a house scratchbuilder myself, I appreciate the small details. I love the awnings on your model

Peter, Big Dog Tires reminds me an awful lot of Max Foods.
Fishing, swimming, grilling, and relaxing at Spring Lake at dusk yesterday, as the local hauling coal and beer passes by...

Coach…..that was my inspiration…….I saw it at the Tracker display at the Worlds Greatest Hobby Show in Chantilly in 2010 and collected the parts for it over the ensuing few years (I built it in June, July, August 2017). By joining the Trackers, I got to meet the builder!

The Marx 999, after more than a decade on the shelf, saw some run-time today:
A bit of clock oil, a shot of electronics cleaner, and a polish of the drive-wheels and she was off. Louis Marx's toys never cease to amaze me.

Paul,
Thank you so much. I like that GTO too. Can't recall where I found it. I love the vinyl roof so common in that era

Thanks Walt. Truth be told, that is a spruced up Lionel house that was upgraded by Harry Hielke and released by Lionel. But what I did add to it was a foundation recessed into the ground and an integral garage which as you know is the norm around here. See the image below. I think you make great houses and perhaps you should consider asking the Ft. Pitt Division of the TCA to let you display them as the model of the meet at their next meet.

Thanks so much for your comment. that's the fist time I ever posted night shots. I'll try to some more in the future!
@PRRMiddleDivision (Neal) inspired me to try a night shot. The scenery is still a bit incomplete, but here's a night shift at Weirton Steel's Open Hearth on a hot summer's night in 1953.
