Happy thanksgiving everyone! I figured I'd get an early start with the holiday . Nothing is better than seeing some beautiful tinplate when your too stuffed to move after the big spread!  OK; maybe a nap first     Let's see your tinplate!

Here are a couple of photos from my European gauge 1 tinplate layout. My layout is in the basement of our city townhouse. With not a lot of room, I have different layout levels. European spur 1 trains run on the main level with American Standard gauge and 2" gauge tinplate on the upper level. First photo: Bing 1 gauge "Sanitatswagen," (hospital car, 1915-19,) and vintage military lead figures diorama; Second photo, Bing repro "Koln" station canopy 13452 (1902-11,) with Maerklin CS 12921 loco (1932-38,) Maerklin "Lokomotivschuppen," locomotive shed 2112-1 (1925-33,) Maerklin "Langholzwagen 'im Paar,'" pair of long haul cargo wagons (1903-14,) and assorted vintage and new lead figures.

The Thanksgiving Day Cannonball Disaster!!!!!

As the Copper Cannonball rounds the bend a hotbox causes an axle to snap and the Thanksgiving Day Special is on its side!! An early run of The Christmas Express narrowly escapes the carnage. However it does appear Sam the Snowman did leave a puddle around him as he witnessed the derailment. LOL

Oh the humanity of it all...

A few days ago I moved a play table from the former "play room" down to my "office-museum".  It now houses an interesting display of Biller ON3, a Biller Round the World airplane, a Biller dockside crane, a Brimtoy station. a Hungarian wind up train that both unloads and loads a container as it rolls back and forth along its lithographed trackand in one of the photos a litho Mohawk trolley car.  I could have made the display 100% litho, but one of the Biller battery powered locos is plastic.  I could have substituted a litho Biller C/W but was too lazy to do so.  So here's the new litho train/toy table.

Hello Tinplate world . Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving ...and were Thankful to play with trains.  Today we have a Knapp #1 trolley dating back to 1904-5  selling for $3.50 with a loop of ribbon rail and ties, you provide the batteries.  Knapp built  2" gauge , competing with the big dog Carlisle & Finch , and same size + - Howard Electric .   If you start Garlick at 1895 ,  C&F at 1896 , Lionel and Smith & White  at 1901 , Knapp walks in 5IMG_0169IMG_0171IMG_0173th at Dec 1902 ....   Knapp continued with 2" toy train line till 1913.  Knapp would re-enter the toy train world in the late 30's with an HO gauge line for a short period .

Cheers Carey

I needed a water tower for my steam engines and couldn't find one of the MTH/ Ives remakes so I picked up this beater on Ebay and made my own.

bing water tower as recieved

I decided my water tower would be a D&H inspired one to add to my growing number of D&H cars.

Below are a couple of my current D&H cars and someday when I get a chance to do it one of my 390's is going to be converted to a D&H steamer.
