The weekend is here and you know what that means;
Here are some pictures from my layout this week.
Joshua looks rather serious running trains.
A quick stop at the Texas Tavern for a hot dog.

A 2012 Christmas 'smell-good' layout memory.
This is one piece that I will miss not owning any longer. For sure!

It's always been about Joshua, I got into the hobby because of him.
Our club layout is coming together and we'll have an open house soon (Oct 5). Here is our Legacy C&O Berkshire making a few rounds the other evening along with the Santa Fe Geep units. It dismays me that Lionel can't put electrical components in a $275 dummy unit these days!
A Rail King Southern Crescent steamer is being overtaken by a Lionel U30c
Two Santa Fe road diesels meet at the station. MTH Dash 9 in Warbonnet colors
A couple of TH&B torpedo boat geeps heading to Buffalo
Nice photos! The highlight of the week!

OH come on Scott, you are blaming Joshua for you hundred plus powered units!!!
That sounds like my Dad when Santa brought me my first Lionel set for Christmas 1947. It is for Ron, although I (my Dad) never had one.

I want to put some time and money into my layout. Problem, no money or time. I have a keil line utility pole kit. I made it into a few projects. I do have berkshire valley e-z line, but it thin. i need thicker. Any suggestions (neal Schorr). thanks in advance!
Getting excited about seeing everyone at York.....and the Holiday show season that follows quickly afterward! We (the River City 3 Railers) have to get a new venue since an antique store has taken our former storefront.

I SAID... "NO MORE TRAINS" What part of NO MORE did you not get old man ??
And right now you are thinking.. "Will this Lionel Engine be able to protect me"
I've got one question.. Do ya feel Lucky ??

Leaving the intermodal yard for the trip behind the bed.

Wifes closet looking into the attic tunnel.
Double track tunnel.
Coming out of the tunnel into my closet.

Oh, man! If she hits the train, that's a big MINUS (-) sign on CONDITION!
Today my beautiful and charming wife, Beverly, and I visited the Northern Central SE of York (www.steamintohistory.com) just in time to see the arrival of a new coach built by the Reader Railroad in Arkansas. Another car (combine) is on its way, and a few other cars after that. They have curved roofs (no clerestory) like Lionel GENERAL cars to complement Civil War era 4-4-0 No. 17 that rolled out of [David] Kloke Locomotive Works, Elgin, IL, in May, 2013!
Unloading, as seen from our window on the 1:00 PM train. The coach rolled down that ramp onto the track
No. 17, the YORK, rolled out of [David] Kloke Locomotive Works, Elgin IL, in May, 2013! Mr. Kloke used plans of his LEVIATHAN (2009) for this beauty, using slightly smaller drivers for the 5-mile 2% southbound grade to New Freedom.
FLASH: The LEVIATHAN will run on this railway, beginning on November 10. Go to "Steam Into History" on Facebook for the latest info and photos.
Walking past the open car, I noticed a sign that appealed to my off-the-wall sense of humor. This would be a neat detail on a model.

Who made the Geeps? Like the correct tanks with the torpedo tubes.
Nice photos everyone!
Here are a couple from last weekend's Conrail Historical Society Convention. That group did an excellent job organizing some great tours and clinics, and thanks to the folks at The Youngstown Museum of Industry, Kasgro, and NS for hosting tours.
First, here's a shot of the rolling mill and BOF at the O-gauge layout at the Youngstown museum
The CRHS has some serious railfan membership!
At Kasgro, they build several varieties of heavy-duty specialty flat cars, such as this 20-axle monster.
Part of Kasgro's facility. They have a fleet of cabooses to accompany some of the cars during shipment.
Sorry this photo came out sideways, but the Folks at NS were great hosts. The brand new Conway Locomotive Shop, just moved in within the last month. NS has spent a lot of money rebuilding the locomotive facility at Conway with the new servicing pad at East Park, new shops, and a new backshop going up.
Of course the old, antiquated facilities have to be cleared to make room for the new. Here's what remains of the old wood-frame roundhouse, with the new backshop going up in the background. The turntable will stay.
