Sorry about the bad day, they will happen, unfortunately.

It will help out alot if you could give the model numbers of the railking loco's.

O.k. its railking erie berkshire number 3389 s4.The other is c&o railking 2744.

The MTH product numbers are more helpful.

Look up forum member GGG and send him an email to start the upgrade conversation for the engines. He'll advise you of your options and will do a professional job.

Good train shops are tough to come by - check out some of the forum sponsors. I guess things are getting tough for them.

so this guy is going to put $300 upgrade kits in $100 locos? unless its the new-age math ,things are not adding up here or on the o.p. first thread.

WOW Jim! Really?  Maybe there is a sentimental attachment to his locomotives or he got them real cheap or some other reason to upgrade his existing locomotives . I have a PS-1 MTH UP coal turbine that I will be upgrading to at least PS-2. Could I find the newer release with all the new electronics? Sure. But I want the challenge of converting it myself. Waste of money? Probably, but nothing beats the satisfaction of a successful challenge! Plus I have already detailed and weathered it and bought another loco (cheaply) for the electronics.

Just sayin there may be a reason why he want to do this and I hope he gets it done!

Jim these locomotives were the first o gauge I have brought. When I left ho and switched to o gauge.Oh and heres some you should know mr know it all. These locomotives have proven to be bullet prove. And can pull with the best of them. For the last while now I have not seen anything I have to have. And since there are upgrades for locomotives.I decided to look into it.Oh BTW these railking locomotives cost me $300.00 each.!!!Stagerdude you are 100%correct about these locomotives. Its nice to see that some people are understanding about things like this.

Not sure where you live in NC but after a few disappointing trips to Little Choo Choo I have instead been going to Train Loft in Winston-Salem.   I don't think Jeff (Train Loft) is a forum sponsor but you can find the store in the OGR Jan 2016 issue, page 96.

Jim, I respectfully submit to you another way of looking at it.  If you find a house that you really like, but it needs alot of work done to it, wouldn't you spend the money to make the improvements ?

My wife and I purchased our house over forty years ago.  It was sorely in need of some major repairs back then.  We continually made improvements to it and are still doing so.  We have spent way more than the original price tag of $29,500.00.  We were constantly criticized for, "what we were doing now" ?

Not everything needs to have a monetary value placed on it.
