I've heard that the big 2-8-0 "Mountain Thunder" has used up its flue time. Does anyone here know whether the C&O mallet being restored for use on the WMSR will be ready for operation by October 2016? I looked on the website and a couple of other discussion boards, couldn't really find anything specific. Thanks!

The current thinking is that the 1209 will be running yet this year.

Did you check the facebook sites for both the regular website (www.wmsr.com) and the WMSR Foundation site (www.movingfullsteamahead.com)?
#734 is actually using up its flue time the next 2 weekends on Saturday photo freights, and Sunday lunch trains.

I personally do not look for the 1309 until fall, or a return to Frostburg either.
For whatever reason the link to the podcast did not work. I would love to see a progress report on 1309. As for a return to Frostburg, my guess would be that it will happen eventually with the help of the state of Maryland. The new state budget has money in it for the railroad I believe.
How is the progress with the landslide?
