All that Cass did was to give it a nicer number plate.  The original has a very thin stroked number six.  I also think they added a siphon so it can suck water out of the mountain storage tank.

All locos at Cass that go beyond Whittaker to Blad Knob or Spruce have siphon tubes. Before the split to Spruce there is a old Shay tender sunken into the ground at a stream and all locos draw from it after the long haul from Cass.

'Cass' Shay #6 has had a few paint jobs with WM. The Fireball was removed at one time. And I'll have to dig but I swear it was lettered Cass RR the first season after the restoration.....or maybe it was in the shop but changed before service.....

#6 at Spruce WV for the 'Great Train Race'.....

Hey Rudy Trubitt (Railsounds), if your reading this thread, any chance that Lionel will be updating the sound files on these latest Legacy Shays to capture some of the awesome haunting whistle sounds of the real prototypes? The real Shays have some of the best whistle sounds out there in my opinion. There are some great YouTube videos that capture these sounds.

Shay No. 6 has only appeared in one scheme while at Cass, she was never lettered for CSRR . The fireballs, which have been seen from time to time are magnets. The fireballs most recently appeared during the 2008-2009 seasons and a couple one-off events as mentioned above. They magnets would often fall off due to cinders collecting behind them and became a nuisance. They did look good though! The new numberplate was placed on the locomotive prior to the start of the 2008 season.
