This is the time of Thanksgiving in this great country of ours!  So, what are you thankful for?

The Wednesday before Christmas last year, I was standing in the store and when I went to turn, I found I couldn't pick up my foot.  Long story short, I had a cyst in my knee from arthritis.  The cyst traveled down my nerve pinching it off.  I had surgery in March.  I am thankful that I can walk without any type of device to hold my foot up.  When I walk, I purposely have to concentrate on picking up my foot.  I go slow and steady but I'm going.   Next year, I'm hoping to be posting this being thankful that I've lost a crapload of weight.  I know that would help a lot.

I am also thankful for my wife of almost 20 years and our 2 beautiful daughters ages 15 and 12.

Oh yea, if you have any Thanksgiving train videos, post them now...I love watching all the videos!  Jeff

Hey Rod - CONGRATULATIONS on your first!   I'm still shy of 70 but my two sons are in their early 20s and no grandchildren in sight...

I'm very thankful for all the blessings that God has bestowed us with in this country - freedoms that were fought and paid for by many who have gone before.

I don't know if there are enough bytes in these servers to allow me to list all I am or

should be thankful for....in a lot of ways I think I have dodged or circumvented several life obstacles and was very lucky to have a large, supporting family.  I actually stand

at some of their graves and thank them verbally, something I never thought to do when they could have heard me.  Three of them introduced me to trains, a fourth who did that lies far away in another state, but that is trivial, in life's big picture, and the contributions they made.

Good morning to you all. Well I am still kicking. As some of you know my past I'll let the rest know.about 2.5 years ago I lost my right leg below the knee. Then in August I had a Kidney trans plant.then 2 months later I had a 3 way bypass surgery. Now almost 2 years later which brings us to today I will be having more surgery Tomorrow  to replace my Mitral valve and replace my Aortic valve in my Heart. I have had Diabetes since I was 10 years old so I have had it for 35 years now. So you all know that I am Thankful for all the great medical people out there that have given me more time so that I can try and complete this 9 month old layout, that has been in the works for way over 10-12 years.

So tomorrow I will be in surgery at this time and they will have my chest opened for the 2nd time in 2 years. So wish me the best and I sure wish my recovery goes well.

Thank you.  Scot

Lots of big things, but here's three "small things" just from today:

1) I'm now a week post surgery and feeling better each day. Looks like back to work on 11/12 is on schedule.

2) Went out on a short drive today for the first time. At the library, saw a notice about times a "Navigator" would be there to help people with the Affordable Care Act. I know some fellow o-gaugers who went through some really bad things because they didn't have health insurance, cancer got more severe, etc, and hopefully we are on our way to changing things like that.

3) Stopped next at my LHS and picked up the Lionel re-railer.  WOW! Does it work great and not just on Fastrack, but all kinds!  I can't wait for my grandson to come over this afternoon to try it out.

And, it is a gorgeous day!

Sp2207, best wishes for you!

I'm an Aortic valve patient and recovery was about like trying to "get the layout done" ... i.e., takes time and efforts and patience but YOU WILL RISE AGAIN!!!
