What crossing signals/gates do you use?

NJ International has S Scale gates and signals.

I have a couple of pairs of crossing signals from Shilo Signals I bought from Scenery Unlimited many moons ago ago, but Shilo got out of making them for S probably 10-15 years ago.

Z Stuff gates and signals. A little oversized for S but easy to hook up and forget about. Work great too.

For the Gilbert traditionalists, I can vouch for the Lionel reissue of the No. 582 crossing blinker (6-49832), which is (nearly) scale-sized and works very well. It is fitted with red LEDs and a circuit in the base that causes the lights to alternate. Visually, it it a very good copy of the 1946 - 48 original and one can repaint the base gray if the yellow is not your cup of tea.

For my small "S" layout, as well as my Christmas layout, I use the Lemax signals, found at craft stores at Christmas. The size is right, and you can hook the battery pack to AC, but they blink (alternatly) without stop. The price is about $10 for a pack of 2.

I use Z-Stuff For Trains O scale wig wag signals on my Hirail S layout.  They look nice, have great bell sounds, and have operated well, except that they sometimes dont shut off after the train passes. I use their infrared detection system.  A little frustrating.  I may change them out for some flashing cross bucks like the Lionel Flyer 582, which are appealing because they have no moving parts.
