I am glad they are coming out with more pre-weathered locos.

Was on the borderline for the Sharks, but cannot afford what they want for the articulated locos weathered or not weathered.

Other than that I was a little bit excited for the LionChef 10 wheeler in NYC livery, but I am with Allan Miller, I don't want yet another remote.

With so many products still outstanding and not shipped, i.e. the complete Neil Young sets, I cannot imagine when this new stuff will ever make it here.

Well, at least they didn't repeat all of the new stuff from the spring catalog.  Would have been a waste of space and paper.  My one disappointment is that they didn't list the new USRA Heavy Mike in Milwaukee Road, as I had hoped they would.  Be nice to add a woodside caboose for that engine, too.  I can't imagine that they would ever offer one of Milwaukee's rib-side bay window cabooses.  That's too road specific, besides Weaver came out with that  caboose in brass a number of years ago.

I didn't notice it until just now, but it's gotta be THE ABSOLUTE WORST COVER (front and back) for a Lionel catalog that I can recall in years.  Who the he!! signed off on it?     Don't be shy now... step forward... inquiring minds want to know.

I thought the cover art was a bit flat as well. The thing I find hard to ignore is the cocked acorn nut on top of the passenger platform, dead-center. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with the catalog. Certainly an improvement over last falls edition. Seems like there's a little something for most everyone. However, some of the pricing....

Agreed, I've been trying to complete my Dad's working carreer bringing the railroads online with mainframe computers. He actually Started with Morton Salt then moved onto railroads EJ&E, being the first then Bessemer & Lake Erie and finally The Milwaukee Road. Nothing in this catalogue interests me either. The Milwaukee GP30 maybe, but probably not.

It was better than I expected.  I like the Philadelphia & Reading Camelback and the additions to the Lionel Steel line.

Concerns:

1. the (as usual) rendering of PRR Brunswick Green or Dark Green Locomotive Enamel makes you wonder whether the models will have it right or come out a sickly green (Lionel, you don't have to prove you know it is DGLE, just make them black - or a lot closer to black -in the catalog)

2.  the Blomberg (EMD) trucks under the Alco RS-3's - did using the AAR trucks on the GP30 models wipe out the inventory?  Really thought Lionel should have corrected this.  I was told they will have the correct trucks but the catalog does not inspire confidence that will be the case.
