Does anyone know what ever happened to the traveling boxcar? I haven't seen any pictures in a while and was wondering if the boxcar found a permanent home?

this is the last time I saw it
Maybe we need to start a new traveling car??? Maybe a OGR Forum themed car with custom graphics........
I’m confused, there must have been two different Traveling Box Cars?

Been thinking the very same thing. Hopefully it hasn't been "lifted" along the route!
Has anyone else here but me noticed that it's actually a reefer car, and not a boxcar?

Yes, there was the one affiliated with OGR and one affiliated with another forum.
It's funny, I was just thinking about it, as well. My understanding is that it was a LV reefer. There used to be a link to where it had been and you had to sign up to get in line to receive it. Then, it vanished.
I remember having it at one time and running it at a friends home in NJ. Unfortunately some people who had the car insisted on putting political leaflets and publications and other highly charged topics in with the car that were forwarded with the car to the next person.
I HATE it when someone uses a fun model train forum to further their (right or wrong) own political or social agendas.
Anyway, I had fun running the car and mailing it off to the next person on the list. Somewhere I have pics, but not here at the office.

Retired. I had our club signed up and was looking forward to getting it. When I followed-up on it, the gentleman told me it was just too much hassle. This is the first I've heard about the political flyers. That may very well have prompted his decision.

Here's a thread and a web link by the guy who started the traveling boxcar project (Greg McMurry) that explains the reasons behind the cancellation.

These were posted/published back in February of 2012 so it's been officially "off line" for over a year.

It made its visit to my layout back in 2010. I hope Greg brings it back to traveling again.
November 2006 It was the first visit in the New England area.
It was a very fun project. Made it's way out West to my old layout.
The Traveling Boxcar actually originated here on the West Coast; If I recall Greg lives in Pacific Palisades or somewhere near that area of Los Angeles.

I was way down the list for receiving the OGR Lehigh Valley car but did finally get a run with the MTJ forum car--pictured below.
[sorry for the double-post, my "tack" is not too sharp these days.]
