And if that’s not confusing enough, before what is now the Wyndham was a Holiday Inn, it was a Sheraton, the name by which it is still called by many York old-timers!  The ballroom and all meeting rooms on the first floor would be full of trains plus the parking lot would be so full of tables that buyers would have to park at the Mall below and walk or take a shuttle bus up to the hotel.

 

But the hotel that I remember members selling out of their rooms was the Billy Budd because the doors and the windows in those rooms faced outside.  So guys would open the curtains and line their trains up on the table in front of the window or on the bed so they would be visible from the outside.

 

Those were the days!
