When I think club I think of an organization that has member participation. Manufacturers "clubs" do not fit my description. When I have time to commit to a member organization,ie be more than a name on a mailing list I will join one, until then, I belong to none.
Joined the TCA last year, so I could go to York. I've found I really enjoy their mailings, and I have always liked the Toy Train museum, so I see no reason not to continue. Beyond that, I've never really been much of a "joiner", and my trains have always been a very solitary thing for me. Besides, after hanging around in here, I see how very little I really know about this hobby, so I'm not sure how comfortable I would be actually hanging out with people when I'm so far behind.
I've remained in the TCA for a long time. I rejoined the LCCA only to drop it after a year. It appears the club exists primarily for the promotion of its national convention and the sale of special run Lionel items - not my thing. I'm active in a large local HO modular club and really enjoying it. Several of the members are also into O gauge. At this point, I really have no interest in joining any other club.
LCCA and TCA.
For those that live in southern Maryland and would like to be part of an O gauge, 3-rail club with a layout mostly built email me.
TCA & TTOS since the very early '70s & LCCA & LOTS from the very late '70s.
