@artfull dodger got me started on an investigation when he mentioned in a post that RailSounds 2.5 units for Hudsons are currently hard to find (see Lionel Railsounds 2.5 Hudson sound system, brand new | artfull dodger).
I immediately went to lionelsupport.com, entered a search for "RailSounds 2.5", looked at the list, and confirmed it. About midway down I saw the tag "Unavailable".
But then, continuing down the list to the very bottom, I found this oddity (highlighted in yellow):
Q: What secrets lie within this RS 2.5 board? $2,500.00 is quite pricey.
I think there's a mystery here. Is is gold plated? Does it open a wormhole in the space-time continuum, when you push the whistle/horn button, enabling time travel back to 1952?
Maybe TRW (@PaperTRW) can help us uncover the secret.
Inquiring minds want to know. If it's extra special I might try to find one somewhere ...
