I’m not sure what trainworld is talking about, My 587 is able to lash up with 765 and any other o scale engine I lash it up with
I’m pretty sure that little note is a mistake on TrainWorld’s part. That description, which should’ve been only for the three truck Shays, somehow got thrown to both the Light Mikes and the AC9’s months ago. I don’t think anyone who has the AC9’s has had the incorrect speed settings.
Its a mistake sorry. When we originally copied the information used the information from Lionels site it had that in their description but they must have updated it wihout notice. Sorry!
Hey everyone!
on my 587, It always seems to have an issue where the smoke fluid either goes to the whistle steam effect or to the main stack. It seems as though you can never get both. I know someone who removed the divider from his Lionel Berkshire. But I don’t know if this is risky. Does anyone know any other fix to this?
Thanks!
If you guys think removing the divider is a good idea, can you give me tips on how to?
Found a video of the B&O Mikado,: https://ogrforum.com/...61#76748553708092661
and that leaves us with Grand Trunk Western, & Southern.
For those still curious, here's the GTW Mikado in action. Disappointed that its whistle is not one that resembles the 4070, but what are you gonna do? Still looks really nice.
I'll probably be on the hunt for the NKP 587 or the Pennsylvania Light Mike come York the next month. The latter would look nice with the new 21" Broadway Limited cars.
Now we still need to see Southern.
I would like to see the southern too. so far my favorite is the pennsy. I may have to hunt one down. Thanks for all the great videos!
The Pennsy one seems to be pretty easy to find online. The 587 however has proven quite popular during the 2017 Christmas season...
Last but not least.....The Southern.

So whats the verdict on these? It seems Lionel did a little better, i.e. some roads got specific whistles and headlight arrangement.
Any issues/defects?
I might consider one when/ if the prices come down.

I routinely run mine through DCS WiFi and have had no issues. I have the NKP #587 version and it has a terrific quilling whistle. My first entry into Lionel Legacy as most of my collection is MTH-DCS equipped locomotives and I really enjoy it.
