Wondering where you've all put your Coaling Stations? In a yard? On a mainline. It's a fan favorite. It does seem to belong on a mainline though people like seeing trains run below them. I don't have space to have pick up and drop off at a coal mine. Would love to hear ideas.

I have my coaling station near the tracks by the roundhouse where a water tower is also located. Engines with coal tenders would like to leave a service stop at the round house full.
I have another water tower out on the layout as the trains need more water stops than coal stops. Engines with coal tenders would like to leave a service stop at the round house full.

I have a 497 Lionel coaling Station that I modified for that reason I made a platform where the train used to go under it and made the dump car ,dump from the outside , of the station . and then it dumps into the truck to be hulled locally.

Thanks, that's a great alternative idea to have a truck get loaded for hauling away. I might still put it in the yard if I can find room, but you've given me a good idea for near town.
