Absolutely.  I only write down things that I won't be disappointed if it's gone when I return, because if it is a truly excellent deal, it will be!

For this item, I'd scour your LHS prices and some dealer's on-line listings and see what they are asking for it.  Figure in factors like shipping and/or sales tax and figure out what you consider a good buy going in.

There is also a small potential for the ZW-L to show up in Purple, but odds are likely better in Orange.  Bigger dealers are probably your best bet (NST, Grzyboskis, Ro, etc).  The only reason I don't list some others is because their practice seems to be to bring stuff they want to get rid of.  ZW-Ls are : 1) not a hard sell and 2) very heavy!

Overall, I'd think you are safe looking around for a little to see who has them if you don't dawdle, but probably purchasing earlier in the meet (rather than looking Saturday morning) is probably the way to achieve success.  If the prices seem initially high, you may be OK waiting and checking back later, but you also may find they are gone pretty quick once the mark down marker comes out.  Unless you see a whole bunch of them at several dealers, I'd probably try to make a decision on one by Friday morning or mid day at the latest.

Happy hunting!

I would shop around online for the best price.....and have that dealer bring it........too much of a risk not to find one.......

i believe that it's such a big item, you' ll see only a few at most.....why take a chance?

Check out the large dealers: Ro, Nassau, Just Trains, Sidetrack.......if they have a decent price.....ask them to bring one.

Noooo!!!! Worst advice EVER!!!   If you know  your prices, and it's a good deal, buy it or it will be GONE before you ever get back. He who hesitates at York, never gets the trains

The best time to buy a train is WHEN YOU SEE IT!

I'm in agreement with everyone that the orange hall is the place to go, but I really dont think this needs to be your 12 noon must-get-now item. I bought a Z4K 2 or 3 York's ago, and pretty much everyone was within $10 of everyone else on it. I bought it from a place I'd bought from before, that was most importantly, closest to where I parked. The major discount was not having to spend a small fortune shipping it. If you opportunistically see one with an insanely low price, then by all means get it, but I think you probably can go back and buy this toward the end of the day and still get one for a great price... Your time at the noon stampede is better spent finding some one off train that you gotta have.

Here is my official ZW-L report.
I started in the Orange hall at noon.
Nicholas Smith.... $660
Charles Ro...........  $625
Grzyboski's............. Winner at $600!
They were the only ones I saw.  Before I bought it, I quickly went to the brown and purple halls to make sure.  I couldn't find any others, so I briskly went back to the Orange hall and made my purchase.
Thanks for everyone's help!
