Old Newbie - Since your moniker implies that you're new to the hobby I thought I'd pass along another way (other than the Owner's Manual) of finding a part number for many (but not all) Lionel locomotives in future, in case you aren't already aware of it.

Call up 'lionelsupport.com' and then when the window opens up type the part # for the engine into the applicable space. It will open up a photo showing all of the individual components of the engine as well as a list/description of all of the parts (and their cost) for that engine. It also has a camera icon (on the right hand side of each line) which, if you click on it the part and its corresponding number will be shown. This is to try and ensure (for your sake and Lionel's) that you order the correct part number.

Hope that helps if you weren't' already aware of it.
