Thanks for that...very interesting.

Here's a thread I started about a year ago. It's about the former military Whitcomb unit on the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad in Pennsylvania and is a nice companion piece to what you posted:

Thanks for that link, Bob! I think Whitcomb is an oft-overlooked critter manufacturer, in favor of GE and others, and is overlooked as an Illinois manufacturer in lieu of that other one....EM something or other.

Cool locomotive! Midvale Steel Company had at least three Whitcombs, #s 39, 42, and 47.
