me !! However there is a York section and this thread should most likely go there
#1, Eddie G.
After I get back from Mexico, Boston, Ft. Lauderdale, and the Netherlands, I'll pack for York.
Yes, I'll be there. After all when I semi-retired I moved to York to be closer to the show and the museum. Now that I am completely retired it makes it even more fun!!

Ring the bell! Just ring the bell, I'm ready to go!
We've got Trainstock and the Big E shows to get through first, Then I can think about York.
I would like to go especially since I have never gotten the chance to go. The wife is on board for me to go, I can get time away from work so it looks like I can finally get there. Do you still need to be a member or be accompanied by a member to attend? Only asking because I never did join.

Packed and ready........

MARK, Just join TCA & go.
Eddie I think your right no time like the present to join and I'm only 2 hrs or so north so no reason not to go.

Yes, you have to be a member or have a member sign you in as a guest. You can join at the meet by going to the registration area in the Silver Hall, but it is cheaper to join and pre-register than to join and register at the meet.
Join and go. You won't be sorry. My first few Yorks, I could only do one day, so I drove there and back again, 4+ hours each way, and I would do it again if I only had one day to attend.

YORK is only an hour drive for me, so if I need a fix I jump in the truck and head down there to check out the LHS and look at the fair grounds.
Of course. Although last Fall York will be impossible to top (for me at least).
George
I'm ready
I'm always ready for a York meet!

Not going this year.
going to my first spring York and my first York in 15 years with my 11 year old son
It is on my list of things to do.
keep the rails polished...

Gary is going to York, when I see him I will believe it.
Sadly distance makes it a once a year occasion, but I do like hearing what people do there in the Spring. Already watching airfares for October

Will do, should be interesting.

Same here. I'm only 45 min away. April is also the beginning of the boating/fishing season for me so my marina may win out. Besides, trains are a winter sport!
I will never be able to go...
Question is do you think there will be some new Vision Big Boys there at discount prices?
Maybe. Depends what I get at the East Coast Large Scale Train Show at York in March and if I'm up for the drive again in April. But, I would like to look at some S scale trains this year.
Pa. turnpike tolls are up by (I believe) 5% this year. I think even Easy Pass went up this year.

We sure are ready. Always a great time.
with all you folks giving it a go, I may do the same, although I really like the Oct York better.
If anyone has never been........oh by all means GO!
York is really the only event with a good selection of tinplate. I went to the Amherst show last year and was done in 2 hours. Not worth the trip from NJ for me. Looks like a decent show for o-gauge. Same is true for Allentown.
Guess I'm definitely going to York for my first time in April since I just booked my hotel and scheduled off of work. Very excited to be scheduling this trip, its long overdue.
BlimpMan, Frank and I will be there!!!
Serious question: Is there a protocol on the forum regarding who gets to ask the first YORK question of the NEW YEAR?
I'm a relatively new guy and just trying to "learn the ropes" so to speak.

Go ahead and ask. That is a big part of what the forum is for - sharing info. Some will ask that you read through Clem's Primer first (see the post at the top of this forum section's main page) as it covers a lot of the technical questions. For the more subjective questions, you will find many helpful answers and opinions here.

Ready, bring it on.
Jack
Yes! Ready to go! Looking for a Vision Line Challenger this time.
York is a wonderful meet put on by an excellent chapter and I can only say good things about the people that run it. I will not be attending and will miss going, but value judgments are a part of my decision making process. After a 35 yr. continuous membership with the TCA; I decided to join the over 2000 members that cancelled their membership last year. The $50 membership is apparently having a negative effect.
I guess that they won't miss me at York but if the TCA loses another 2000 members this year, the E.D. might have to adjust the rules to preserve the York audience. IMO, lifting the one time only guest rule should be considered.

Dotty and I will be going. This will be York meet number 70 for me.

Your profile says Utah - even once a year is quite an accomplishment.
I make sure that I have the time off arranged for each April and October. Started going in 1989, and haven't missed one since 2005. Recently changed jobs, and negotiated the time off before accepting since the next York would be before I accumulated enough vacation time.
It's a 9+ hour drive each way, but worth it. Always amazes me to read the posts from people who complain about having to make a 2 or 3 hour drive.
