Just curious, I have the CSX version road no. 722. It is my most detailed engine, but my worst runner. Without speed control it is too fast, and with speed control, and barely moves. In addition, it will stop at random places along my conventionally controlled track. Anyone else have one with the same problems? On the other hand, if you do, post some pictures!

I have the similar K-Line by Lionel Santa Fe SD75I and it operates great in TrainMaster Command Control mode.

I have the CSX sd70. It had a lot of problems early on. Those have since been resolved. It runs in command control and is now a great runner. Details are outstanding. Only thing is it will not MU with legacy engines even with cruise off.

I have two conventional models. They are great runners. Hope to update them to TMCC next year so that I can run them together to pull my Atlas Gundersons.

I think most of them had problems. We put a ERR Cruise "M" in and have never looked back. Its a excellent runner.

I had an Alaskan RR model. With EOB,it was an excellent runner. I eventually got a 7 car set of passenger cars to go with it. After a family trip to Alaska a couple of years ago I gave this set to my youngest nephew.
My engine was one of those that was featured in an OGR article a few years ago about this K-Line model.
I think that this was part of the K-Line Collectors Club and got tied up in the demise of K-Line. But Lionel eventually made good.
In fact, you may want to check the archives for this article. It was well done as one would expect and had lots of info on the K-Line SD70MAC.

I have the Santa Fe SD75 version with TMCC. Mine did not operate properly in conventional mode when I got it, and I sent it to Brasseur Trains for warranty service. Brasseur handled warranty service for Lionel on this model, probably because of its K-Line origin. Brasseur replaced the R2LC board and fixed something else, maybe the motherboard. It's run fine since I got it back. If I remember right, Dean Brasseur told me that there were quite a few problems with the electronics on that model. This was during a period when Lionel was getting a lot of defective R2LC boards - I remember having to replace that board on a couple of Weaver and Lionel TMCC engines I got around the same time.
I have the Santa Fe version with TMCC, I run it through the MTH DCS system. Runs perfectly, very smooth at low end or high balling speeds.
I have the TMCC version, it is a great runner.

Why didn't they do a BNSF run for this model? Isn't BNSF by far the largest fleet of SD70MACs?

I have the same CSX engine by K-line and have pretty much the same running problems that you describe, minus the random stops on the track. Still it is a very nice engine at an unheard of price. I really miss K-Line, but if they were still around I bet the price would be much higher on this engine.
I posted earlier that I have two of the conventional models.
The first I ordered through K-Line as a K-Line Collector Club model. I think the conventional price was $125! The second one I bought second-hand on eBay a couple of years ago for $100 - $125. They are nice models for the money, and I hope to install the TMCC Cruise Commander into both, so that I can more easily MU them together.
For anyone not familiar with these engines, they have an interesting history. They were the last K-Line Collector Club engine. Much to the dismay of those of us who had ordered the engine, K-Line went belly up before the engines were delivered. This lead most of us into believing that we had lost our pre-order money. In the bankruptcy deal that allowed Lionel to sell all the existing K-Line inventory, the judge required Lionel to also deliver the Collector Club engines to the folks who had already paid for them. Thus, while it is a K-Line engine (and marked this way on the fuel tank), it was shipped in a Lionel box.
